So, so Aussie

I hadn't heard of this movie until I went to the Holden Museum in Echuca last month and the Kingswood from the movie was in the collection. It is a very funny movie for any Aussie. It may be a bit lost on non-Australians, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The behind the scenes documentaries were very interesting. It's a real gem and will probably become a cult movie. The Real Star is the Australian Countryside.

Another Aussie estranged-son-silent-dad movie. Full of sentimental asides and the sort of humour Jacobson and Hoges can do all day long. Why go on a road trip in a 30 year-old Holden? Answer: to milk the sentimentality and Aussiness as much as possible. A few nice cameos, but the best part is at the end, and I have to admit that was the only reason I bought the DVD: a bloke I went to school with in the 60s restored, owns and was the real pilot of the little Auster aircraft.
