Excellent 400 ASA B&W film at a very reasonable price.
The 400 ASA version of this film gave just as good results in 120 size as the Ilford HP5 film I used previously. The frame numbers on the Fomapan backing-paper are far superior to those on HP5, being larger and higher contrast. When straining your eyes to see the numbers through a red window of a film-back, this is very important and can save wasted shots.
The image results with filters are very good, especially with orange. There is very good contrast, but not excessively so.
For the price, this film takes some beating, and I have recently met other film photographers who feel the same.Read full review...

Great value 400 BnW film
At EI320, very good tonality in Rodinal 1+50 for medium format. Grainy but pleasant.
Drys a bit curly but not the worst I've used. Keep the sun out of the image as the anti-halation isn't the best.
Very good value. Read full review...

A good alternative
A good alternative to the much more expensive HP4 from Ilford, with pretty similar characteristics.
It is NOT the same, however, it gives a more "old time" look to your photographs.
To see it you'll have to try it for yourself.Read full review...

Fomapan 400
It arrived in perfect condition, with still a decent amount of time until expiry. Haven't yet seen the developed negatives so unable to give 5 stars, but at half the price of Tri-X you can't really argueRead full review...

An awesome film for that 'Classic' look.
Fomapan 400 is a cubic-grain, panchromatically sensitised B&W negative film that comes in a wide variety of sizes such as 35mm, 120 Medium Format, 8 x 10, 4 x 5 and 6 x 7" cut sheet film.
In a market that is seemingly well supplied with 400 ISO films, Foma can hold their own with this product. I use this speed film extensively, and have rarely been disappointed with the images it produces. It can pull details out of the thinnest of negatives and in my experience, works well with the old-faithful D-76 and Rodinal developers. The D-76 produces very smooth midtones and the Rodinal adds a vibrant 'snap' to the images that I like very much.
Fomapan 400 has a wide latitude which allows for some under/over exposing and will still produce very printable images.
If you are looking for a very nice, 'classic' film for a soft look then go no further. Fomapan 400 is a perfect film, and at the price is totally unbeatable.
I love this film, and as I write this, is my curent 'go to' film for almost any situation.Read full review...
