Camera great, some bundled items not so much.....

While this may not be a very easy camera to learn how to operate, it can be learned by using the included user manual, which is pretty straightforward, and easy to follow. The pictures, and video it takes are incredible; the high-resolution is so crystal clear, and sharp, it puts you in the middle of the image, making it very real. I am nothing like a professional photographer, so I can't say how a professional might feel about it, but even as an amateur, I can really appreciate the value this camera has, and I probably won't be buying another camera for years to come, and it is most certainly a huge upgrade to my previous camera, a Canon Powershot S3 IS.

Now, as for the bundled items in this package, they were not so great. The remote didn't even work, and I can't be certain of whether the lithium battery was dead, or the whole remote itself was dead, but the fact remains that it did not work; however, after sending a message to Redtag about this, they wrote me back, saying they would send a replacement right away. Another aspect of the bundled items that was not so great are the tripods; the 50" tripod is made of the most flimsiest metal ever, and when extended fully, it feels like a breeze could blow it over, and forget about trying to position it on anything accept a flat, stable surface. I have not had the opportunity, or reason to try out the table-top tripod yet, as I already have one, but if it is anything like the 50" tripod, it will also be of little use. The memory card wallet seems as if it could be of some use, although the fact it can hold only three could limit that use to some degree, however, things like that can be had very inexpensively. The camera bag was a little personally disappointing, only because it did not have compartments, rather one large space; however, that is a personal gripe, and all of the camera accessories do fit inside, so it is adequate. Again from a personal perspective, the SD card will be of no use at all, as it is only 16gb @30mbps, and I had other SD cards on hand, which I purchased specifically for this camera which are much larger capacity, and much faster transfer rate. The slave flash seems to work fine, as I had run several tests on it; it did take me a bit of time to learn how to disable the internal flash, as the first time I attached the slave and tried to take a picture, up pops the internal flash unexpectedly! The rest of the items, the telephoto and wide-angle lenses, the filters, and the cleaning kit I am sure will be of some kind of use as time goes on, and I am just as sure that they will perform to their respective standards.

All in all, I have given this a 4-star review, knocking off one star due to the quality, or lack thereof, of the tripods. Other than that, this camera bundle reeks of value, so I give it a positive recommendation.Read full review...
