WHy Bushnell is a Horrible company, hundreds for junk

Like color screen and overlay ability. Only works thru Internet explorer. Website leads you to dead contact links. Finally got ahold of bushnell for them to tell me the item must be damaged from the factory and to return it to retail store. I bought it on Ebay, and they told me that's too bad. DON"T GET A BUSHNELL GPS EVER!
The online user interface consistently makes errors and fails to transfer data. Plus Google maps Supplied me with better quality maps, and bushnell gets there maps from Google. Nothing more than an expensive hard to use bulky portable google maps. And the map size per credit is horrible for the quality. Also you can't select a larger area and zoom in on it, you have to zoom in and purchase the map at the zoom level you want, meaning you have to buy a zoomed map and an area map if you want detailed topo or aerial views.Preload maps are a joke, better off standing on top a hill and using moss on trees to navigate. All and all My htc Hero cell phone does a better job than this hunk of junk at navigating. Can i just get a Google Earth portable GPS already for crying out loud. I'm 25 and this thing has me complaining like a 65 yr old women trying to install windows for the first time.

Bushnell Onix200CR GPS

I bought this item used on Ebay because of the ability to use topo maps or sat images. After I had already bid on it I started gathering info about this item and found that 99% of people who had reviewed it hated it. So I was skeptical when I received the item. I have owned handhelds since they first became affordable back in the early 90's and owned nothing but Magellans. But after a few fiascos with Magellans I wanted to try something new.
This is a difficult unit to learn and use at first but if you spend the time to learn it its a great little unit for the price. The units functions and layout differs greatly from what we are used to so you really have to read the booklet and study the guides on the website but after you get used to it its a good unit.
It doesnt have some of the features that was so nice on my other units, such as lunar and sunrise and set tables, best hunt and fish times and it doesnt have the things like cross track error, speed, and such that you can put into different screens like the Magellans. But I like seeing my position on a topo or aerial map instead of a mostly blank screen.
Also their basic background map is a joke. It only shows freeways and the most major highways with large rivers and lakes. In the area I live nothing shows up until you get to the 50 mile scale.
I found a site on ebay that sells this unit new for about $100.00 bucks. This unit is well worth that if you are looking for a basic gps with maps.
Also when you download topo maps and airel maps you dont get a whole USGS quad. It takes about 12 to 15 downloads to get a quad and the units memory only holds about quad. It would be better if you download the maps to a mem card but there isn't one on this unit.

One hunter's opinion

I bought this item because I hunt, and every hunter knows what its like to get yourself turned around in the woods to a point of feeling a little lost. This is especially true when you're out scouting during the late summer/early fall days when the woods are still pretty thick. Well, I know the other GPS's offer all sorts of GPS features that they think will help hunters. But, the truth is, there's only one handheld GPS manufacturer out there who can genuinely claim to know what hunters want in a GPS, and that's Bushnell. Bushnell knows that the one thing that's going to help the hunter the most when in the woods is the ability to actually see the tree line, the creek, the field, the cabin, and your proximity to these things. If you're a hunter don't bother reading the reviews of Bushnell's Onix line from people who aren't hunters. They'll give you all sorts of comparisons between Bushnell and this or that. Don't bother comparisons, there's only one that offers the true aeriel photograph of the land you're hunting on. I have the Onix 200CR, and its great.Read full review...

Bushnell 200cr GPS

Bushnell build this product up to be the next great advancement in the GPS industry. If it was easy to operate they would be right. I have owned the unit for week and to this point still have not been able to download maps. I tried to contact Bushnell, they have not sent a response back to me.Read full review...

Unable to install the sw, rendering useless....

I haven't been able to install the software on this GPS to get started. I even upgraded to Linex Fedora 16 to see it it will work and it still doesn't. I tried to log on to the bushnellgps.com site and it won't allow me access even though I registered my newly purchased GPS. This is very disappointing and I will have to live with it until I can get some help with it. No, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I have never left a review like this before on anything. But, since I was requested to, I have this time.Read full review...

MUST BE FEDERALLY FUNDED BY THE TAX PAYERS!

WHAT GOOD IS A GPS IF YOU HAVE NO MAPS AND CAN NOT DOWNLOAD MAPS FOR THE AREA YOUR IN?
IT IS TO HARD TO WIPE YOUR ASS WITH, SO IT IS JUST JUNK.
IT TELLS YOU WHERE NORTH IS BUT A $5.00 COMPASS WILL DO THAT.
NOT MUCH GOOD NO WONDER YOUR SITE TRIES TO SELL YOU A BETTER ONE, BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT IS JUNK.
WELL GUESS WHAT? ALL WELL KNOW REAL SOON! I GUESS YOU DO NOT NEED REPEAT BUSINESS OR FREE ADVERTISING!
MUST BE FEDERALLY FUNDED BY THE TAX PAYERS!

Great device

I happened to of had the chance to own an ONIX 200 handheld a few months ago until it fell out of my pocket.
The unit I had was a Non color device and worked quite well.
Other than the limited button function and figuring out how to operate the thing, its an easy and semi simple device.Read full review...
