These are a rare (and getting rarer) model of the PS3. I purchased this console because of it's backwards compatibility with PS2 games. I'm also a bit of a collector so it was great to find one in good condition.
I've had this console for a couple of months now and it's working great. I can see why Sony discontinued this early line of consoles as it is a physically heavy and multi functional bit of gear with 4 USB ports! (even the ps4 only has 2!)So it would've cost a lot to make. Just holding it in your arms makes you realise this is a serious bit of gear (so heavy!)
The only downside with this console is the lack of storage space. Sure 60gb was a fair bit of space back in 2006 but now with bigger games (as well as Playstation Plus) you will fill the 60gb quickly.
A quick side note, the ps3 controller (for this 60gb model) was released without the Dualshock element. Sony thought no would miss the rumble but consumers did and in later console versions you will find the Dualshock 3
If you can find one of these consoles and you love Sony, you should get this model. It's the Rolls Royce of the PS3 console releases. Sure we've had Sony release compact versions with bigger disk space but this version has the ability to play PS2 games and looks super shiny!Read full review...
Good value for money on the 2nd hand market.
I purchased a broken 60GB PS3 to repair a client's broken unit. The PS3 family is well designed and reasonably easy to service. The UI is easy to use and incorporates a BD-ROM drive, so it can replace your DVD/BD player. Not a bad unit for the price.Read full review...
