I found the knife to be poorly finished and the parts were not even. I had to take the back to the sanding belt to even out the liners and spring. The knife is very hard to open and close even after an oiling and workout. I had to sharpen the blade to make it usable. Schrade vs. Case
I own a few Case knives and love them. I bought the Case Sodbuster Jr. and the Schrade Imperial Small Sodbuster at the same time. The Schrade came super sharp and has a great fit and finish for a third of the price. It also has a beefier blade than the Case. A great knife for the bang for your buck
I purchased this knife a week ago waiting patiently for it to arrive in my mail box and I ended up getting the knife on Christmas Eve 12-25-16 and took out of the box and I was very impressed how solid, sharp, and how well it locks it place and how it felt to using it cutting open Christmas boxes with it and how sharp it was. I carried a Case Sodbuster for years and loved it. I unfortunately lost it and actually ordered a less expensive brand online but was very disappointed. I was a loyal Scrade USA fan but not since the move to China. I decided to give the Schrade Sodbuster a try and discovered it is a very close equal to the Case model I had. I will get another Case because of loyalty to American Made but the Schrade is a great alternative at a third of the price. My second Imperial sodbuster. My first was the yellow comp, so I went with the black this time.
As I said in another review, I prefer the grind on this knife better than the CASE sodbuster. Came sharp.
At about 1/3 the cost of a CASE, it's a great value.
