metal tie down rings
Purchased these to use on top of my 4 x 4 drawers as luggage tie down points. These rings are spring loaded to help stop them rattling when not in use and travelling along. Cheaper price than hardware store. (1/2 the price)
Pros: Heavy duty and work well when mounted on a vertical position.
Cons: Spring still rattles slightly when mounted on a horizontal platform such as my 4 x 4 drawers.
I fixed the rattle on these rings. Hard to explain but the ring is mounted around a pin that runs from side to side on a mounting plate. There is one spring on one side of this pin and one side of the pin unsprung. The unsprung side allows some movement and thus rattles but only when mounted horizontally. I fixed by wedging some wire around the unsprung side. In the end I didn't have to do that as I also used some octopus straps to hold down luggage and left them there when not in use and that stopped rattling anyway,Read full review...
