Functional but output has issues

The audio output when plugged in (whether it's headphones or into a car's aux system) is shaky. Considering i want this for music only, it's a bit disappointing. I know it's the iPod because the same equipment works fine with other devices.
Other than that issue it's in good condition and features work.

Nice Device

Impressive little product. The ipod is very easy and fun to use. Apps load and collapse responsively; web is slow but still impressive considering it is a music player. I bought this mainly to keep me entertained while traveling by air and I like the selection of games to choose from.

I think Apple's sync process is confusing and limiting - wish they would make it better. I do not want to sync my whole collection to my ipod, i just want to add one or two things... well to do that you have to figure out how to sync one or two items - lame. In short the sync process sucks. Oh I know, it is probably just me and the fact that I will not take the time to figure it all out; well kind of ironic that it is that same ADD-tendency that draws me to the ipod in the first place. The ipod touch rocks, but dealing with itunes and the sync process is a let down.

I rated this a Good because Apple still charges too much premium for its name and then tries to control the price that retailer sell their products (also lame) Look Apple, your products are dope - drop your prices and let more people enjoy your product.

Very handy,.. gets expensive

I bought the Apple Ipod Touch 2nd Generation 8GB for $187 brand new, still sealed. What i love about this ipod is that i can get easy access to the internet (with wifi, of course). I can easily and quickly view my email and etc when i dont feel like turning my computer on, as it can take a while. I spend my time on my ipod to check my email, blogs, other websites, listen to music and to play games! When my computer is down i use the ipod. To me, typing on the ipod is not a problem but you can but a pen specially for the ipod.

What i dont like about this ipod is that sometimes it can freeze, it can easily get scratched on the silver bottom part so you would have to buy a cover as soon as you buy your ipod or before you know you're getting one. Another thing is that i really hate how complicated it is to download music to your ipod from the itunes store The first time. It will take a while for you to figure out how to do so but once you've got it you'll do great the next time. Downloading photos is another, it only allows me to download photos to my ipod by folder not individually. Everyone has their pictures titled and under a folder. Why cant Apple realize that and allow us to individually choose the pictures we want to download???!! You cant erase music or downloaded pictures from your ipod, you would have to do that through itunes. The only pictures you can erase are the ones you've saved from a website or email through your ipod. I would use my myspace pictures and save them to my ipod but not all of them saved clearly, some saved blurry and this pod doesnt allow you to listen to your myspace music!!! ugh! i dont understand why since it gives me the option to downdload Adobe Flash Player. The packaging of this ipod does not specify what generation it is. The way to distinguish between a first generation and 2nd is by the look. We were explained by a Best Buy employee before we bid on our ipod on ebay. I cant tell you the difference because i've forgot the Best Buy employees explanation and i havent seen a 1st generation ipod. oH! & you have to have a computer to charge your ipod or buy a wall charger. A wall charger is something they should include for its high price. They should include other things like NOT CHARGING for their NEW UPDATE!!!! Because after all, we end up paying about $300 or more buying covers, cases, wall chargers, pen, and etc!!!... Well i hope this helps and alerts those who are thinking about buying an ipod

Ipod 8 Gig 2nd Generation Great value for the money!

This Ipod is very user friendly. Free Applications make this Ipod very useful from Banking to Email as well as internet access. The only thing missing is a camera. If you have very large fingers then you would have problems with the touch screen keypad. Ipod's have be incorporated in many applications including Blueray Players and Stereo systems. My Sony Blu-Ray system has a Ipod holder with charger built-in. The music and movies can be played directly from Ipod. I really like having the versitility of this device and highly recommend finding a used one, not too beat-up (normal wear and tear) for under $100.00 so you can decide for yourself if you want to move up to the latest Generation Ipod.
Go for it, if you are tired of the rest, go for the best.

Apple iPod Series - Price vs. Functionality vs. User Friendly

The iPod is a handy little device. Listen to your favorite tunes, watch a video, even e-mail whoever over WiFi!

Fairly rugged. Battery life is fair so if you use your iPod at work like I do, then no worries of the battery conking out half way through your day.

The stainless steel back cover is polished to a mirror brightness. It is easy to get scratched up if you do not use a form-fitting case or cover. Good news is that if you own a Dremel motor tool (Walmart for around $30)you can polish away most scrapes and scratches using the tool with a nylon cup brush and Turtle Wax brand Rubbing Compound (Walmart $5). Just use bluse painter's masking tape to seal off the buttons and the seam where the glass meets the case, and over the docking port and headphone port so the compound does not foul the any of the contacts.

The user interface is the child of the Apple Mac but is easier to navigate than it appears. The iPod operates smoothly and charges quickly with a wall charger (in less than 15 minutes) than it does from the flimsy USB cable that ships with it.

If you get it wet don't panic. Warm it up with a blow dryer then wrap it up in a wash cloth and set it aside for 24 hours. In most cases it will be okay. If it takes a swim (totally immersed in water)the keep the charging dock pointing toward the ground to assist in draining. Use the blow dryer method only during the 24 hour period you should re-warm it every 4 hours to remove the condensation that will form from the evaporation process.I have worked a thousand soaked iPods, it's the units that received prompt measures to remove the moisture that survive.

Pros: Nice looking unit. Sound is fairly sweet with some decent ear-buds or headphones. Has some neat functions that can be useful beyond the entertainment value.

Cons: Over priced compared to most other brands. The bloated price allows the other guy's mp3/mp4/video players to appear more economical yet allow them to charge slightly more for it.

I reccomend this product to anyone looking for a modern alternative!!

I purchased this item because I was looking for a relatively up to date model of the iPod touch. Since the item I purchased was used I am not sure what the original battery life was supposed to be. The battery life on this model is about 5-6 hours for music and 3 hours for video, which is good enough for me but I had higher expectations because of what is advertised for other iPod models (particularly the newer ones). The only downside is that one cannot upgrade the iOS operating system to newer versions and therefore one is limited in the number of applications that can be downloaded. Some may dislike it because of a lack of a camera or built-in microphone. In any case this product is superior to the other mp3/mp4 players on the market in terms of features and design, but if you are looking for something that just pays music there are cheaper options.Read full review...

Excellent ... BUT!!!

The unit itself is excellent. I love it. BUT, why the hell did the Idiots from Apple change the stylis, so that you have to use a special one, that is NOT AVAILABLE ANYPLACE, except on ebay. What idiots would do that? And why the H don't they include one in their packaging if they HAVE to change the type of stylis. I know, so they can make you buy a special one, and pay more money for it. But how can you even buy one, if you can't get it from any store that supplies apple products, can't find it at Radio Shack, can't get it from any office supply store like Office Max or Office Depot. You can't even buy it in the Grand Rapids area from the only Apply supply stores "Meijers". What was Apple thinking. If the unit itself wasn't no nice, i'd totally boycott Anything Apply Makes. Think ahead next time "Apple"!!! And why do i need a stylis..because my fingers are too big to fit in a pencil sharpener to type on the small screen. The batter life is not anything like it is projected to be, but then I do use it for games etc. I would also suggest to get a better rocket scientist to write the itunes software which is confusing as hell. All in all the Apple Ipod Touch is an excellent and fun product.
P.S. who is their right mind would pay the price Apple is trying to get for their new IPhones? Close to a grand, cummon Apple!!! Why do you think you are that much better than the rest, and why are you computers so much more expensive than IBM. That's my main beef with Apple is PRICE! They are NOT worth it. When they lower their price, they will sell very well.

Ipod touch 2nd gen. Re-view

Take my advice, if you are the type of person who values their hard earn money then this product might not be for you, but if you are the type of person who does not care about spending/wasting $200, then get the Ipod touch.

The internet accessibility is for only those who own a wireless router at home or work, and for those who go to public places like libraries.

Security is pretty much non-existent,if you want to protect your private information. With the Ipod Touch you can't erase your cookies when you log in your important internet accounts. The browsing and surfing options can take time, so if you are a patient person who does not use the internet for anything vital then you would probably like the Ipod touch.

Sound gets high marks. Probably the best all around mp3/digital player I ever owned.

The video quality isn't bad either. Even though, I wish they had increased the screen size.

Adjusting brightness, like all similar devices, will prolong your Ipod's battery life. It will play up to 2 hrs of video before you need to recharge. I got mines to go up to 3 hrs. Expect to recharge the Ipod after 8 hrs, if you have it playing all the time.

I can say the Ipod Touch isn't something really useful, but it's one of the most pleasing devices, both in looks and handling. It also has a very easy navigating learning curve, that takes literally minutes to get used to (JUST TOUCH!).

One last note, definitely get a screen protector. And you might want to get a case for it, it scratches very easily, and you will drop it.

It's great. The battery is a little short, but it's ok

I love the fact that there is wi-fi and all sorts of useful applications like tools and it's fun too with the games available. The applications are not that expensive even when they do need to be paid for. It's very easy to use, and very nice looking. It's easier to use than I thought. There are updates to the software inside constantly, and the screen is really high quality, and looks great. I like it a lot. The thing I don't like about it is that it seems that the battery life does not last very long. That's about it. Oh, and some of the applications like the older ones, need to update the software so that the new actual (ipod) update collaborates with it, like landscape mode typing. That's about it.Read full review...
