Great Frame for Sharing Potos

I've purchased three of these frames over the last several months. I wouldn't pay anywhere near suggest retail but if you can snag one for $90 or less it is a great deal. We have one at home and the other two were for my mother and mother-in-law who are in their late 60's early 70's. Translate as "technologically challenged." They both love it.

The wifi feature along with Toshiba's free content site are what make this worthwhile. There are other wifi enabled frames out there but I have not run across other brands whose content sites are free. They require a monthly subscription. Once you have registered the device on the Toshiba Framechannel site you can go in and manage content. The best feature about this is that anyone can 1)email pictures direclty to your account on the site and have them on the frame, 2)the user can point to one or more Picasa(Google Photos)photo albums, 3) manage photo albums within the Framechannel site. What this means is that friends family members can update from any location and almost instantly the frame owner can see the photos. Note that the user must have a wireless network or connect the frame directly via USB. Of course, the frame has an internal memory (2G) to which you can download photos.

There is a pretty big variety of other content from which to choose on the site - sports teams, weather, news, etc. Content owners have maintained this to various levels but there is certainly something for everyone out there.

The device has a very clean look (black or white available) with touch sensitive controls along the frame edge. There is also a remote control. Here is where some valid criticism is warranted. The operation of the controls is not very intuitive and this is where users can get hung up. You can muddle through and get where you want but you may get a bit frustrated by the time you have done so.

Overall this is a pretty fun device and quite pleasing to those whom I have known to use it. Watch what you pay for it and you will be very satisfied.
