Great addition to extend high power relay (or contactor) electrical contact points.

In summary, use of this arc suppressor across the relay contacts dramatically increases the relay contacts life span and it is highly recommended for HVAC or Well pumps or any time you are switching high power electrical appliances or motors using a relay (or also know as contactor in HVAC business).

This unit has RC network consisting of a typical 0.22 (or 0.1 or 0.47) micro-farads capacitor (rated at 650v) in series with a typical 100 ohms (or 47, or 220 ohms) 1/2 watt resistor to suppress the arcing that occurs when relay contacts are opened or bouncing while contacts are closing. This arching process can produce voltages and currents that are well beyond the original relay (or the contactor) design specifications.
