Better in soft soils.

This little tiller goes hard, it is a bit light and will tend to bounce around on top of hard soils, the rear tyne that holds the tiller back when digging is wobbly and I have fears that it will cause a breakage of the cast housing it is mounted to, perhaps this is why the operating instructions indicate you should drag the tiller backwards which is very hard work. I have owned many rotary tillers and they all operate forwards, sort of pulling itself along with the single tyne causing drag to let the hoe tynes dig in. The assembly and operating instructions are poor, it is not even clear which way the tynes should be fitted.Read full review...

You get what you pay for

Does a so-so job, adequate for mixing in fertilizer and aerating the vegie patch, and will strip the grass and roots off the surface of an old lawn, but that's about it.
Pros: The motor itself seems good, easy to start and runs well. It's fun to use for a bit, which is lucky because it's not very effective.
Cons: Way too light, you have to push it down with one foot just to get it to dig in, hardly safe. Flimsy structure - wheel mount has already bent and the skinny wheels are useless on freshly tilled soil. Pull starter needs to be removed and cleaned out for EVERY start because grit gets into it and prevents it from engaging. Only gets more than a few cm deep if you push it down with your feet. I found I need to go back over the ground I've tiller with a hoe and grabber anyway, so it's not really saving me any time. Save the money and buy handtools instead.

Good product and great value for the price.

Starts first time, do'sent miss a beat at this time. Little bit thirsty on fuel but goes really well.

Great value cultivator

A small amount of assembly required, don't look at the instructions they may confuse you, however all went together very simply. Started 2nd pull and runs well. Perfect for tilling the vegi patch making ready for new plantings.Read full review...

Works well

Just sometimes hard to start, I should have bought an electric one. Easier than a fork and shovel.
