PLOT: 1940's tale~a Red Ryder 200 Shot BB Gun is ALL he wants for Christmas~

Peter Billingsly is 9 year old RALPHIE has a BIG Christmas Wish~ he wants a Red Ryder Air Rifle (BB GUN) and spends his spare time 'dreaming' about how to get it~ this is an excellent movie which flows along with humor and the Christmas Spirit. Ralphie deals with neighborhood bully Scotty Farkas complete with Coonskin Cap. GREAT casting~ Grumpy Dad Darren McGaven and doting Mother (Melinda Dillion) ~~ when DAD finally wins one of his contests the grand prize is NOT so grand ~ A SEXY LEG LAMP that is as funny as it is tacky~ HIGHLIGHT IS THE TACKY LEG LAMP IS "mysteriously" damaged to the hysterical scene where McGaven attempts to 'glue it together'~ AND THE PRICELESS Family trip to pick out the family tree ~ meanwhile Ralphie writes his "all I want for Christmas" paperwork for School.

Ralphie (Peter Billingsly) is excellent as the boy who wants an gun only to be told by every adult "you will shoot your eye out" which is part of the humor AND story line. Clever and funny script~ outstanding acting and characters that are the center of this CLASSIC CHRISTMAS GEM~ Christmas arrives with Ralph sleeping under his chanelle bedspread and wearing his UGLY harringbone olive green pajamas~and classic opening of the Christmas GIFTS~ complete with AWFUL gift from an Aunt.

this flows along with memories of the simplier past~ but the HIGHLIGHT SCENES ARE THE DEMISE OF THE LEG LAMP,WASHING YOUR MOUTH OUT WITH SOAP~ OPENING CHRISTMAS GIFTS AND THE beyond hysterical CHINESE CHRISTMAS DINNER COMPLETE WITH "WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS" sung BY THE Chinese Family who own the restraurant~ a modern masterpiece~ a 10 out of 10 ~ and staying there~ this is movis is not just for kids~ it for adults~ AND the kid in all of us~

You know holidays are just not holidays if they are missing something. For our family its watching a Christmas Story on Christmas Eve. Funny tale of a little boy who wants a BB Gun for christmas. He goes to great lenghts to convince everyone he should have one but is always met with the reply "you'll shoot your eye out" THe movie is chock full of old childhood things that happen to everyone. Licking a flagpole and getting your tongue stuck to it, putting on all your snow clothes only have have to use the bathroom, picking out the tree, family squabbles and burning christmas dinner :) I loved this movie as a kid and now my kids are loving it too. All time favorite

I don't know when it became a tradition to watch this movie on Christmas eve, but last year when the VCR ate the tape, we were all devastated. The replacement DVD did the trick and my daughter (15) proclaimed it the best Christmas story EVER! Ralphie and his amazingly loving and quirky family just bring it all home. The anxiety, squirminess, and imagination of being a kid. The era just adds to the enjoyment of us old farts, but the kids seem to get the nostalgia too. All of life is Fra-gee-lay.
