Is an excellent starter smartphone...good value for the money!

Initially bought this product as a starter smartphone for a family member - it was an excellent decision. The phone came running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and has an easy to navigate, simple interface. The touch screen is easy to use, whether for typing/texting, playing games (although the small screen can occasionally give a limiting feel to games played on it), or navigating the phone menus. The phone also feels rather solid even without a case; the outer back surface also has a rubberised feel, so the phone feels secure in your hand. The phone's external buttons are also easy to reach and operate, and the phone's connectivity has been easy to use/connect (network, WiFi, etc). The recessed speaker also allows the sound to be silenced by covering it - useful if the phone rings unexpectedly.
Pros:
- Easy to get used to, even for first time smartphone users
- Plenty of COMPATIBLE apps available in google play store
- Phone design feels well made, especially for a starter or budget smartphone

Cons:
- Small screen does feel somewhat limiting, especially when playing games (think Angry Birds!) or surfing the web
- Relatively slow 650 MHz processor - lag may be noticed when running some games or multiple apps at the same time
- Battery life, while not bad, is not impressive. Regular app usage will probably necessitate charging every night.
-Camera quality could definitely be improved (2MP, no flash, zoom quality can get get blurry quickly)

Overall, the device is a very good starter smartphone, and would probably make a good gift for someone not too interested in an extremely technical phone. A faster processor and better camera would be nice, but the phone already gives good value and functionality for it's price.
