Nice, fast processor with a cooling system that compliments it well enough

Personally I would recommend a liquid cooler for this cpu or any cpu for that matter as I feel liquid cooling is the future of hardware temperature regulation but this wraith prism processor fan keeps this 105w tdp cpu just under the “caution” line of 80 degrees Celsius when under a heavy load, reaching closely under it’s boosted clock speedRead full review...

Ryzen vs heat

It performs good. However, on longterm running, I don't recommend such a processor for many reasons. Firstly, with time the idle temprature is increasing, which makes the utilization o less than expected. With this temprature issue, you can't overclock your processor or get a full utilization from all cores. Secondly, AMD consider the user have a better cooling system for their processor. Why they still include the fan prism with their HEDT processor. I expected much better utilization and reliability from 7nm technology, but it seems like AMD didn't catch the best. I'll wait intel to see how they will deal with 7nm technology.Read full review...

Up grade

I bought this to compare my Threadripper 1920 a 12 core 24 thread CPU. I 3DMark bench mark my Threadripper was 9950 CPU score the 3900x 12345 a 32% increase in CPU power. It was a drop in upgrade for my 3600x and boot straight away on my B450 motherboard. Temps
are OK with the Wraith Prism would prefer a AIO but there only room for a 120mm AIO and I'm not sure it would be any different in Temps.

A great replacement for the 2700x

I am very happy with this CPU. I was skeptical at first and thought it wouldn't be a good replacement for my 2700x, but I was wrong. I could only get 4.1ghz manual OC on the 2700x at 1.4125V. I am able to get 4.3ghz across all cores at 1.35V on the 3900x! WOW! It is extremely stable and gets around 3365 all cores and 209 single core in Cinebench R15. This thing performs well and is easily the most efficient 12c/24t cpu on the market today.Read full review...

I honestly don’t know what to do with all this processing power.

Great for the $400 price it’s hovering around right now. Bought it since I gave a good price for my 2700x to a friend that needed an upgrade and now I have no idea what to do with this power. If you have $400 to spend on a cpu and want to be future proof for like more than 5 years get this. If you have good air flow then you can do 4.4GHZ clock speed under load that’ll be close to 80C on stock cooler. I do recommend getting the best air flow cooler or go water cooling for this cpu if you want all of its performance. Overall I recommend this cpu for its $400 price to performance if you need this type of processing power as of right now. Running it with B450 Tomahawk Max (which remains cool) and 3600mhz CL18 16GBx2 of Trident Z ram.Read full review...

Workstation-performance in a mainstream desktop CPU.

The 3900x in my opinion hits a price-performance sweet spot. ~20% more than expensive than comparable mainstream 8 core cpus like 3800x, but offering 50% more threads. If you do any CPU intensive work (like video editing, pro audio, coding/compiling), that extra horsepower means you can get more done faster. In my case I run a digital audio workstation, and extra cores gives me more tracks and more potential soft-synth voices. If you're a pure gamer, its not for you; other than installing games faster, compressing/decompressing files, you don't see much benefit from the excess threads. Maybe in the future that will be different, but at the moment 6-8 cores will do you fine. But i like the extra power for both multi-tasking as well as creative work.Read full review...

AMD is actually good now, wait WHAT?!?!

Very powerful cpu for the price, and it's pretty efficient for having 12 cores.
