easy smooth activation

this was a relatively easy hook up. I have optimum internet in central nj. I called in and they took the #'s off the box. there was small hiccup on her end to activate the modem and she had to go through the sequence a few times before it worked. she then had me enter the #'s on my computer screen and then she had to go through sequence once again on her end (last hiccup) and bingo. all in all a great buy and to make the bill lower with this now owned modem on my acct. just a 20 min phone call with optimum. recommended to anyone wanting to reduce their internet bill and will pay itself off in less than 1 yr.Read full review

Works with Comcast

If you're looking to eliminate Comcast's Gateway and the $11/mo rental and have both internet AND phone, you need both a cable modem and an eMTA box. The TM822G works perfectly for the eMTA box (to use the phone service. While technically it has a DOCSIS 3.0 modem built-in, the modem is a slower speed. Excellent Replacement for Company Provided Modem

After Comcast told us our modem was going bad (when we complained about poor Internet speed) and that we would be charged $15 for them to ship us a new one, I just turned the old one in and got this one.
