Great price and a decent tablet for kid.

Tablet review:
I got this for my daughter because of the parental controls. When reading reviews it sounded really customizable but it's pretty basic. It loads fine and has a good quality screen and can function as a simple adult ereader tablet with a web browser and everything. The kids free time has some great features but you can't completely lock some features like the book app and video buttons on the top of the screen so your kid can access that while in Freetime so for me I don't like that. I want my kid to only be able to use what I put on her screen. Those buttons give suggested apps and videos for your kid based on there age. For older kids I say its fine but I really wanted to limit my kids access to only the apps I want her to use.
You may be able to disable the feature but I haven't figures out how.
Also there are barely any audio book options free or bought. And a lot of parents from my researches have said the same.
If your looking for a full function tablet I would choose an IPad over this for adults.
But for a child tablet or a really basic adult tablet it would be fine.Read full review...

Good Quality Tablet

I like the front and rear facing cameras. I like the quick response in the screen and the layout of the menu bar. I just do not like the battery life. It is only about four hours or so when it is connected to the internet and doing things such as going through Facebook or watching movies. I have not really used it much without the wifi connection so it may actually give the 8 hours as stated. The size is great and the directional response in fast also. Over all it is a great tablet. I would recommend it to anyone that has a desire to watch movies or read a lot of eBooks on it. Some of the apps I have used are fast and the game graphics are superb.Read full review...

AMAZING VALUE!!!

I got this tablet about a week ago as a replacement for an old, slow tablet. At first, all I wanted to use it for was music listening, reading, and video streaming, and at that point, I figured that that would be all the tablet would be able to do. Boy, was I wrong! Not only does this live up to the tasks mentioned earlier, it plays all the popular games with ease, never slows down, and looks great!

PROS:
The Screen- It's just shy of 720p, and unless you are used to 4K screens, then this will be just fine for you.

The OS- Pretty easy to navigate, looks nice.

The Design- Feels good in your hands. The back is a matte plastic finish, so it looks and feels nice, and it also helps with the grip and durability of the tablet, so you can use it without a case if you'd like.

Internals- Pretty good specs on a $50 tablet. I've never noticed any lag and it's really good with games.

NEUTRAL:

The Special Offers- The special offers really aren't as bad as they'd seem at first. They're just there, no videos or ads you're forced to watch. Occasionally, it'll pop up with exclusive deals that may interest you. Of course, if you just can't stand the ads, you can remove them for $15, at the time of this review.

Battery Life- The battery life is pretty good, but nothing spectacular. It lasts about 1-2 days with mixed use, however, this is the only component that makes me think "$50 Tablet".

CONS:

The Cameras- Now, I know that most people buying this tablet don't really want/need a souped-up 4K Ultra HD 40 Megapixel camera, but if you're gonna use the camera, be warned. The front camera is VERY grainy and low quality, and the front camera is MUCH worse. For those of you that don't know, "VGA Camera" is another term for a 0.3 Megapixel camera, and it's not great. If you plan to use this to skype a lot, then pick out another tablet.

Easy to navigate but......

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 is easy to navigate but when one first turns it on it has this disgusting screen that sometimes is almost impossible to get away from. If my two year old granddaughter powers it up, she touches the screen and goes into these sites. Once I get that cleared out, she is able to watch her videos and view pictures that we have stored for her to enjoy.Read full review...

Great, but be alert of 3 versions/generations

I had a nice long review until ebay froze on the submit. So here is the brief version. Naturally, the kindle is an the highest value with a Prime Membership. You have unlimited cloud storage. You need an amazon account/email make use of all the features, but technically not required. Great battery life, and it actually looks HD. High durability. However, there are 3 version selling in the market. Make sure you purchase the kindle you want. I knew that there were 3 versions, but I didn't know the physical differences. (I wanted the dual camera for family member.) I found out the hard way.

Alerts/Physical Comparison:
2012/2nd gen - bulky, has camera, large power/volume buttons, large black stripe on back (design)
2013/3rd gen - smaller, no camera, large power/volume buttons on back
2014/4th gen - current model. dual camera, small/"hidden" side buttons, looks very similar to 2013

Screen freezes up too often

Touch screen freezes up too often. Don't know whether it's due to apps running in the background. Seems to not have this issue as often while plugged in, but what good is a tablet if you can only use it while plugged in? If it's too frustrating to use because you can't because screen is locked up and you have to wait for it to re-boot then you're not going to use it. Uninstalled several apps and issue seems to not be as bad, but what good is a tablet if you're hesitant to put anything on it?Read full review...
