TOP NOTCH!

Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) is news anchorman supreme in San Diego in the 70's and he's 'kind of a big deal'. He works in an all male team with the sports guy called Champ (David Koechner), the on-site reporter (played by Paul Rudd, Mike in Friends) and a weatherman called Brick (Steve Carell) who has an IQ of 48. His world crumbles when Veronica (Christina Applegate) turns up. She's a sexy lady with her eyes on becoming an anchorwoman and breaking into the male-dominated world.

Admittedly there's not much of a plot, but there doesn't need to be. The gags flow like wine and there are so many quotable lines you'll never remember them all. There are also quite a few cameos including Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughan, Tim Robbins and Jack Black, all of which don't feel too contrived and add something to the story. I laughed for the entire film and for a long while afterwards. Go see and enjoy, and remember, stay classy.

One to see before you die!

Will Ferrell plays Ron Burgundy, set in the 1970's newsroom Ron is the top news reader in San Diego and the other reporters hate him for having the number 1 spot every week!
He is chased beaten up in the most cheesy fight sceens ever but you have to laugh. Until one day he has to share the news with a woman! thats when things start to get worse for Ron.
This film has a fabulous cast including Christina Applegate, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd(Mike from friends). This film is full of cheesy lines, wicked wit and slapstick! I totally recommend it.

The Human Torch Was Refused a Bank Loan

Having already seen Ferrell in Zoolander and Elf I kind of knew what sort of thing to expect; that Anchorman would likely be funny but that I shouldn't count on there being any clever humour. To dumb it down and laugh at the pratfalls. But I was wrong. This is a pretty well thought out smart pastiche of local American News Reporting circa the seventies era. As well as the slapstick and cruder jokes there is also a mine of well observed comedy and funny dialogue between a bunch of off the wall characters. Ferrell is supported ably throughout by the usual collection of comedian mates (Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jack Black) and his characters relationship with Applegate and the interaction with his pet dog/best friend Baxter is brilliant. This IS funny stuff but not the funniest film ever made and often it misses almost as much as it hits. But when it does hit, get ready to laugh out loud.

Anchorman is not exactly a must see hilarious movie. But it is definately a watchable and funny class film.

Quality hilarity

Bought this product after a friend showed me it a few weeks before , had thought it was going to be the usual rude coarse humour but found the movie to be hilarious. The gags are first rate and acting is right on the money, with occassional scenes of extreme stupidity thrown in that are the icing on the comedy cake.

Watch it - love it - annoy everyody else with one of the hundred quotes you can grab from it :)
