Great product, great features and good value.

OK, if you're buying an ipod touch you probably already know about its features and uses. You're probably upgrading from an earlier version, replacing a broken device or deciding between the 4th gen and its more expensive cousin the latest 5th gen. Maybe you have non-apple mp3 and are debating whether its worth the extra cost to move to the dark side.

My daughter wanted the ipod touch as she is big into her music, taking snaps and downloading games. The touch allowed her to do all that and as we are all iphone converts, she can use the text and email features to keep in touch even when we're in the same room!

A BIG NOTE to watch between the 4th Gen and 5th gen is that this 4th Gen has the front and back camera so you can take photos at will. The 16GB 5th Gen only has front camera which is fine for selfies but not so fine if you like to take photos of other people; you need to splurge on the 32GB 5th Gen to get the back camera. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

So this 4th Gen had everything we need, and the power connection fits our slightly older accessories, chargers, speakers and the likes.

If you're a non-apple mp3 user as I used to be, I would recommend making the switch. Eventually it became too much hassle for me to download music and podcasts; moving to an ipod makes the process much more streamlined. Apple 1 - Others 0!!

Some reviewers express preference for the sleek design, the extra screen size and picture quality of the 5th. Come on,,,its not your big screen TV, its not even an ipad, you're not going to watch the latest blockbuster movie on this thing. So personally, and its really a personal choice here, I dont see the need to upgrade to 5th gen.

Some people like the choice of colors that the 5th Gen comes in, but you're going to buy a protective case anyway right? What? No!? Buy a case my friend!!! They are fun, you can personalize your ipod, and they protect it when it gets dropped. Oh yes, it will be dropped! There's a huge range of cases for very good value on ebay!!

Eventually the technology will have moveed on, 5th gen will become 6th gen and you wont be able to get any decent apps for the 4th gen. These products are expensive enough so I dont see the point in paying the extra for the 5th gen.

Bottom line, this is a great product and a big hit at home.

Great product, but Apple could pay more attention to the needs of buyers.

Just returned from a trip to Russia, and my new iPod Touch saved my sanity. I kept track of my e-mail, the weather and used the calculator more than I would have in the states converting money, not to mention my whole music library going along in my pocket. I love the design and the color, and it is slim enough to fit in my shirt pocket without much notice. Made a few videos and I love that feature.

I could have used more battery life, but it seemed to charge faster than my old iPod. My biggest concern is that there should be a better user manual, either online or with the original packaging, as I had some problems syncing my old music files on my computer (on iTunes) and that could have been easier. For some reason, my HP laptop sees my new iPod Touch only as a camera, not as what it is, but that could be an HP problem.

The value was okay, but since buying it on ebay, I've noticed it elsewhere for for a better price, and I really hate that when it happens to me. Since the newer iPhone came out, this device should now be only about half of it's current price. I don't even want to bother with other products, so I can't give a good comparison.

I only wish there were better accessories (cases, chargers, buds, etc..) availible for the iPods, rather than the glut of iPhone extras. Seems like Apple is ignoring the iPod customers in favor of those who choose the iPhone, which seems to be a marketing ploy to me.

Not crazy about the change....

My original classic died. Bought a new iPod 4. I've had this for over a month of use. The only positive I can mention is the battery life. The sound is terribly low! And overall dissatisfied with this version!!!!!Read full review...

Lightweight with great features.

The product was as described and has a nice battery life, it's easy to use and it still connects to my Windows 11 laptop through iTunes.

Works well. Thanks!

Battery life is good. These work well for music only, and maybe a few older games. It's not compatible with newer versions of apps like Facebook or Messenger. I use this for music only, anyway. I hook it up to my car and go. Works great. I replaced the old case and bought a new one and the whole thing looks brand new.Read full review...

Ipod Touch, is is realy the best mp3 player slash video camera out there???

The good: Apple's iPod Touch comes with a new color, a new price, and feature-packed OS. It records HD video, chats over video or iMessages, checks your e-mail, keeps your appointments, connects to the cloud, rents movies, plays music, takes pictures, and plays more games than any of its competitors.

The bad: Photo quality doesn't hold up to the iPhone 4's; there's no GPS, and no option for 3G data service.

The bottom line: The iPod Touch is the best iPod yet, offering all the fun of the iPhone experience without a carrier contract or monthly bill.

Available in either white or black and priced at $199 (8GB), $299 (32GB), and $399 (64GB), Apple's iPod Touch maintains all of the core essential features that have made the iPod great over the years, such as music playback, photos, video, podcasts, audiobooks, and games. Many of the new marquee features found in the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 are also here, including iMessages, iCloud support, an HD camcorder and FaceTime video calls, and more.

And while the iPod Touch is lagging slightly behind the iPad and iPhone in terms of its technology (slower processor, no GPS, no 3G capability), it offers the least expensive entry point into Apple's iOS ecosystem, bringing with it a world of entertainment that is unmatched at this price.

Design
The only visual difference between the iPod Touch launched in 2009 and the one launched in 2010 is the availability of a white model. Beyond that, the hardware is entirely unchanged. The software has been overhauled, but we'll get to that in a minute.

The back of the Touch has a camera lens in the upper-left corner, along with a pinhole microphone. The camera placement is nearly identical to the iPhone 4's camera, though the cameras themselves differ. The camera used on the Touch is strictly designed for video recording, but it can be made to capture still frames, whereas the iPhone's camera pulls equal weight as both a photo camera (5-megapixel sensor, LED flash, HDR support) and an HD camcorder.

The iPod's front-facing camera is placed above the screen and behind the glass, where the earpiece would normally be found on a mobile phone. An integrated speaker is also included on the Touch, located behind a tiny speaker grille on the bottom edge of the device, along with a standard dock connection and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The rest is just as you'd expect. There's a Home button below the capacitive touch screen, which still measures 3.5 inches diagonally. At 3.56 ounces, this is the lightest iOS device money can buy, feeling practically invisible in your pocket. Score one for the skinny jeans.

Hardware features
Unsurprisingly, the iPod Touch continues its neck-and-neck, spec-to-spec race with the iPhone. Features that made headlines when they made their iPhone 4 debut have trickled over to the iPod Touch without much fanfare, but are no less impressive. You get the same A4 processor, same three-axis gyro sensor, and a Retina Display that uses an impressive 960x640-pixel resolution at a dense 326 pixels per inch. You still can't make cell phone calls on the Touch, surf over a 3G connection, or receive a GPS signal, but the gap between the Touch and the iPhone is smaller than ever.

2nd Half Coming Soon!

Very good price for a very good product.

I was fairly satisfied with the ipod. The size is perfect, the games are fun, the functionality was very good, and the color is pretty neat. There were two things a little upsetting about it though. One, the battery life. The battery won't last too long if you have the brightness up too high. This is bad because in some cases, the brightness needs to be high!(Sunlight glare, reflective covers on ipod, etc.) Secondly, it is certainly not very customizable. You have to jailbreak (which is very risky, and will void your warranty) if you want to get more than the very limited options for layouts you want.Read full review...

It's a Big Freaking Deal my iPod is Amazing!

It's awesome, believe me when I'm saying it's a great handheld portable device knowing that you could play game, listen to music, watch movie, tv show or music videos, surf the web on safari network, save your thoughts on a notepad, have a FaceTime with friends, take picture of great moment, record videos of lovely, amazing, or dangerous scene(not saying that I have danger scene yet), and so on and so forth. Upon iPod being great touch screen and if this was an iPhone it will be even "Greater or more Amazinger" that not a word but it make great zinger. Because of this my brother wanted my help to get him one and he "love it" more than that word "like", he wanted to do the stuff that he wanted on my iPod I didn't like sharing, because it's my personal device and no one going to tell me they want to use it and beside I already have about three iPods to fill those empty spaces so I'm doing great with my iPod 4s.Read full review...

Versitile and ready to go. Easy to use!!

This is a very versatile product. With the numerous apps offered, you can personalize to your needs and enjoyment. Adding Pandora, or Sirius XM app (Sirius XM requires an online subscription) can add to more of your enjoyment with a Wi-Fi connection. You can also download apps and music via ITunes this way as well. If you like audiobooks, you can go thru your local library and with a membership, you can download them for free. You can play games on it as well.

The accessory that I would suggest buying are:

a durable case
a more comfortable headset
a wall charger
an aux cord/accessory so as you can enjoy it thru your home/car stereo. A car charger is also a nice item to add.
an extra sync cord for travel.

I have a travel alarm clock that has a battery back up and ac adapter. It charges it as it play. If you have a case, it may be essential to buy a dock extender. You can get one thru EBay at a very reasonable price.

It is not bulky and travels well. The touch screen is very responsive with little to no lag time. A stylus can be used as well.

I would suggest not using this item for movies or books since the screen is small. A tablet is better for those items.

A good buy. Excellent for a workout. You can take your music anywhere and anytime. Just grab it and go.

Far better than I thought.

The ad made it look like at least 1 giant scratch or blotch would be on it. I couldn't see an problem at all on the outside and the sound quality is superior as always. It just takes some patience to get through some versions of iTunes, though. I used 10 because the later versions are not the best.Read full review...
