Has the BEST DAC

This iPod is WELL beyond it's days of being a multimedia power house. The software is old and incompatible with most apps, the web browser is extremely slow, and the device in general is missing many common features found in modern iPods/Smartphones. But there is one thing that this iPod has that NO OTHER iPod Touch or any iPhone has. It has a Wolfson DAC. Basically meaning, it has the best processor to encode music. The sound quality this iPod provides is top notch with any nice set of speakers or headphones. What was expected.. sort of.

iPod charger came dead on arrival, doesn’t fit at all in the iPod, I tested it on others and an iPad it doesn’t work. iPod looks nice, in good condition but is unable to be used (as partly expected) cannot sync to iTunes. Runs iOS 3.3.1 great for nostalgia and nothing else.Read full review...

Only Worth It If...

Apple iPod Touch 1st Generation is only worth it if you can buy it at an incredibly inexpensive price. It's old, slow, doesn't have a camera, has a limited battery, and if one doesn't have older versions of apps, it is basically useless as one will not be able to install many apps on the device. I only purchased it because my iPod Touch 1st Gen tanked on me and I needed to purchase one in working order to use in tandem with my Klipsch Speaker Doc. The doc will only charge an older 1st Gen device or an iPod Classic... luckily, I had a backup of my old iPod which gave me back all of my apps. It plays videos well and I like the size... the 1st Gen is extremely durable in terms of the materials used to create the main casing. Love my ipod touch

I love my ipod touch. I use it all the time, I feel lost without it! I bought the ipod touch because I wanted the wifi and app abilities of an iphone, without the monthly cost. I have the 1G 8GB Ipod Touch and I find it great. It has great sound quality, fast internet capabilities, good video playback, and it is easy to use. The only downsides to it would be that it does not have external speakers, but a cheap small speaker can be purchased to plug into the headphone jack. The other downside would be that it does not have a camera, no mic, and some newer things are for the 2G and 3G only, like the new OS4 software. Those are the only downsides I have found, but I bought an external speaker for like $2 on ebay, I can load pics onto it through itunes, and my 3.3.1 software has worked just fine. The mic limits you to not being able to use some app such as Type and Talk, Talking TomCat, and the Glee app that I wanted, but for the bargain I got it for on ebay, it was worth the trade off. Apple Ipod Touch First Generation 8 gigabyte

Easy to use interface and touchscreen that works very well. Like all ipods, works with itunes and can store music, videos, and apps. Has email, wifi, and web. Great battery life and a bright screen. Generation 1 lacks the integrated speakers, but this is a minor issue. if you want more features, get a 2nd generation or higher, but this is still a fine product. I recommend this for the music lover who doesn't waant to shell out $300 for a 4th generation ipod touch, or the $500 and higher Ipad.

Has the reliability of an Apple product

Cons:
No intergrated speakers
Work pretty much only with Itunes (unless Jail broken)
Has the possibility of crashing problems, like all ipods.

Great iPod back in the day!

I got this iPod back in 2007 new and at first it was a great iPod, but now its really outdated and just basic. It really has no good features on it and is kind of bulky compared to the new ones. However there is one nice thing I have to say was this iPod was very durable. The first week I owned it I dropped it in the snow while getting out of a car and did not realize it and I stepped on it after looking for hours I found it in the driveway laying in the snow in -10 fahrenheit and it still worked. To this day it is still working great just has a few dots on the screen that's been there ever since it got stepped on and the back plate still has the dent in it from being stepped on. I guarantee if that was a newer touch like the 3rd/4th gen the screen would be cracked and probably would not work anymore.Read full review...

Want an iPhone but dont have the money? Here is a taste

I love the fact that is a simple little device, yet it is still powerful to run an app like teamviewer (remote desktoping, for free). Contains wifi, NO BUILT IN SPEAKERS, therefore this product has to be plugged into speakers or headphones, to produce sounds that can create decent music, it does however create noices via an older style internal speaker. This speaker work like the older version of the iPod series, it clicks, it creates a couple of other sounds, tis all:(

Other than that, can be used as a wifi remote to any program compatible to the iTunes remote feature, this includes but is not limited to foobar and I remember reading that winamp can use it, not sure about that. Can run cydia, and is of the older bootrom, so the user can have full control of this device, if you dont know what that means, dont worry, its of not use to you.Read full review...

I Pod Touch 1st Generation

It makes for easy watching of movies, tv shows, music, surfing the web. With proper cables its media can be played on your big screen. There are a few draw backs. At times playing movies can be problematic, in that the video signal is not transferred. With proper software picture quality is very good even though it is 480p or 480i. Unless you use iTunes a lot getting free apps requires a credit card or iTunes card at cost of no less than $15. The iTunes software to connect computer to iPod is free to down load. Writing emails and surfing the web can be problematic if you moderately large fingers, as the keyboard and autofill tech can be trouble sum at best. The wifi seems to work very well, although the screen can be difficult to see in daylight.Read full review...

The ipod touch works great for at home recommend to anyone who wants it :)

I bought this product cause i used an old mp3 that i got awhile back and thought i would be nice to upgrade to a touch screen,The battery life is excellent full charge in half a hour and lasts me a whole 24 hrs before i need to charge it again most things i like are the web browser and iTunes right on the screen where i can get music like that on the other hand it was new to me and had to get used to it i didn't know much about it and felt like i wasted the money but my co-worker show me how to use it and i'm liking the idea i can watch movies on the go with it the money i paid is well worth it even for it being used i like the idea it's used rather than being new.

Comparing this item to other ipods that are 1st gen through 6th gen was amazing how far technology has come into creating a slick thin design all at the touch of your finger tips rather that whole wheel thing with the others and limited video playback as well (talking about other iPod that don't have playback feature such as the apple iPod touch). the YouTube app is by far the best thing i can watch videos without having to lug around my laptop all the time and is on the go

so to summarize if you want a all around better slick fast design with out the cost of getting a new phone or having to pay a ton of money to get a new iPod that probably doesn't support YouTube or web browser you should get the apple ipod touch.

ipod touch is more than a handy device

i bought this for its wifi connection and the music. this device shows me more and more features everyday. i have easy access to youtube, email, and facebook apps at my fingertips. And if im not mistaken these devices cant get viruses like a normal laptop could. the connection speeds are phenomenal. the picture on the screen is also top rate, no slow downloads or blurry imaging here. you also have access to a google web browser to search other sites and info. the only drawback to the first gen. Itouch would be that there are no speakers or a camera like it has with the newer models. i recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade their ipod and/or seeking easy quick intrernet access through a wifi connection.Read full review...
