Better than I thought it, not as good as it could be.

Basically, a fun game all around. Lots of characters all with their own unique avatar, style, personality and fighting skills, which I love. Bebedora is especially funny, if not a bit morbid, though that's a lot of why I love her.

The problem is so much of the game falls into the realm of cliche. The story has been told many times before, though there's a slight twist in the style of parentage which, while it has been done, is not something I see often enough to mind. The battle system isn't particularly new either, nor is it very flashy, which could be a turn-off to some. It is still enjoyable, and the battles are based thanks to your strongest skills using stones instead of mana, which are consumable and thus cannot simply be refilled at an inn. These stones are easily bought for about 2 gold per 1 (in general), but earlier in the game it prevents you from simply spamming spells to get out of a tight situation. Near the middle of the game you're rolling in them and can cast to your heart's content, but even then there's a certain strategy involved to placing your characters in a way that they can all mutually benefit from the attacks around them. Difficult to explain, but basically it feels more like a chess match than most other tactics games did, which basically boiled down to getting nicer gear than the other guy and wailing on them. You can power-level your characters, but it's a slow process and not particularly necessary, which also helps to pace the player.

Overall, definitely worth buying in my opinion. There's a bit of replay value in a New Game+ feature, not to mention plenty of characters to level up and max out for those who are min/maxers. The storyline is far from original, but well-done for what it is. The only truly bad part of this game is the voice acting, especially on the Deimos' side. They all sound like Scooby Doo...on a bad day...with a flu :x

ARC THE LAD; NOBLE STORY

When I played Arc the Lad, the first thing that caught my attention was the storyline. Just like in a good movie, whith in 30 minutes it had me hooked. the main charaters were identifed and I new it was goning to the classic good againt evil. In no way did the story go off into a foreign dialog that would confuse the player. it was straight and to the point. also the graphics were not to bad and contruibuted in submerging the chacters and myself into the story where you cared what happen and what happen to yourself. you had over (14) playable charaters that keep the action, graphics, and the life of the story on course.
in my opinion whether video games is a art or not. They can allow our imaganation to go futher than any book could ever us allow. We can now become part of the stroy.
so if, Arc of the Lad did not catch your attention, then I know there are now thousand of what I like to call interactive books ( video games) to you liking or adventuring with. I have over 540 video games. Remember there are 5 important thing that make an inactive book come alive and to be a best seller, but you folks probably already know that.
Honorably yours'
VICTOR L.ORAHOOD
GOD BLESS!
SPECIAL NOTE: I STILL LIKE TO TAKE JOURNEYS THRU VIDEO GAMES I ALREADY KNOW WHAT HAPPEN.

Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits

One of the best rpg you can player. It's as good as Dragon Inquisition. It has some intense moments, dialogues. Good graphics for a ps2 games. Long 60h+ story. Compelling story and good variety. Nice characters but it's not perfect as some dialogue are a little cheesy or some characters needed more development but the game in general is really goodRead full review...

IF YOU OVERLOOKED THIS ONE, YOU MISSED OUT!

I found this game while browsing for good deals on DVDs. I read other reviews which stated this was a really enjoyable game that somehow had not caught the buyers' eye and had been left behind by RPGers. I am always looking for a good RPG game so I bought this one (really cheap.) I found it to be true: Arc the Lad had a wonderful, fully-fleshed out story which cover the gamit of emotions as well as prejudice, hatred, love, deceit, betrayal, trust, caring and acceptance. The characters, humans and Deimos (a mutant race), were deep and their dialogues, sensitivities and emmotionally twists and turns easily related to by the player. I am a hard-core RPGer, but when I started playing this game I could hardly put it down - wanting to know what would happen next or around the next corner. My grandson, a hard-core shooter/fighter video gamer, started watching me and now I have to take turns with him playing the game. He has never liked RPG games, but in his words, "This game is awesome! It has everything!" You can read about the characters and plot when and if you check it out to buy so I won't waste words on that here. I'll just say that the graphics and characters are very cool as are the monsters and mutants. The story line flows continually with no drags or lulls. It may be a little tame if you want your RPG games to be like "God Of War" all the time, but it's your loss. Just do yourself a favor and buy this one (cheap) before it catches on what a real find it is.Read full review...

Great Game

This is a very amazing game. It can be found for $5.99 at the right location and is worth much more. It has a great turn based battle system and also has a great storyline. The only negative thing that I can think of is that it is not that challenging for an experienced gamer. However, this is a MUST have.Read full review...

Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits

I cannot say enough good things about this game. I played it 3 times with the first being over 80 hours long and the other two about 60. I love every minute and woill play it again. you can start a new game with great items and mony in a replay. The grafics are stunning in AND out of cutscenes.the atention to every detail is unmatched. you level up characters, and gain more and more abilities for each character all at your own choice. the othe games in the arc the lad series are worthless though and I'm waiting for a worthy sequal. the story and character deveopement are deep and poinent. BUY this game. I will never sell my copy.Read full review...
