Astatic - They've been at this a while

Astatic has been in this business for decades. There are other brands but if you want to buy once and be done with it then go with these people. There's nothing special about this SWR meter but if you do your own CB work Astatic is who you go to.

I was big into CB 30 years ago and just recently dug my radios out of the closet to a road trip that I take about once a year. I bought the cheapest SWR meter I could find and ended up throwing it in the trash. The controls were super cheap and the meter was terribly erratic. I went back to Astatic, the same company I relied on 30 years ago, and found their reliability and build quality had not changed a bit.

If your a serious HAM operator then you will want something else but if you need an SWR meter for occasional use when setting up a CB then go with a reputable brand and be done with it. I'm reasonably sure the Astatic SWR meter that I bought in the 80's and used for 10 years would still be working today if I hadn't lost it.

A Quality Name

I've known the name Astatic for decades. Basically in good Cb microphones, that is why I chose to purchase this meter from this brand. Unfortunately, sometimes electronics falter. Very Nice Little SWR Meter

I really like this little meter. It has enabledd me to test & adjust several of my antennnas. It is simple to use, and requires no battery. Sometimes, depending on the frequency, getting the needle calibrate to the "SET" mark may be extremely sensitive, but not impossible.Read full review...

Good value - works well.

Watt?

I found thie only thing on this meter that might be reliable is the watt reading, Maybe it's just me but every time I move my hand towards the meter the electricity inside myself causes the meter needles to change position execpt when set on watts, I can not get a true swr reading because I have to touch the knob on the meter and when I move my hand away from the meter after calibrateing it the needle moves to a lower setting and jumps upwards the closer my hand gets to the meter.

Astatic swr/power meter

I didn’t have much luck out of the Astatic meter. It read inconsistently and the fwd/ref switch would not hold position. I’m sure some people have them and they work great but mine did not.

Deceptive advertising

Advertised as usable for Ham radio when it only reads low power equipment. Technically they are correct but ad is very misleading as the meter has VERY limited Ham radio capabilities.
