Atlas Shrugged

I read this book and all of Ayn Rand's fiction adn non-fiction 40 years ago. I am an Objectist. I am enjoying it even more, as it is very timely with the election of the Radical Marxist as president of our great nation. Everything that Miss Rand told about seems to be coming true. Our nation is being destroyed. Over and above the crisp writing and wonderful plot, it is a fantastic read. It should be required for every high school and college student to read!Read full review...

This is my bible

In a world governed by tyrants, thieves, socialists, dictators, war-mongers, terrorists, and mystical horse-feathers, 'Atlas Shrugged' shows us the best and perhaps the only path by which humankind might regain the dignity of self-reliance, freedom of thought and absolutely private property.

Yes, the writing is redundant and excessively long, but the point is certainly made. Ayn Rand hits very hard on atheism, but it's simply a component of her rationality.

Shades of Ghandi, passive resistance, the producer's strike, taxpayer's strike; we need it all here and now in this USA on the brink of disaster.

Timeless classic

This book is as important as Animal Farm, 1984 or Brave New World. Ayn Rand is writing from a place of deep understanding of totalitarianism.

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

I had read this book many years ago, forgot most of it and wanted to read it again. In view of the current trend of government to throw Trillions of OUR
descendant's earnings at problems which were largely caused by government's abnegation of responsibility for controlling financial market theft, this is a must read for those who perceive Socialism's threat to liberty. That may be the future of our once free society. Every "gift" we grant to the bandits will eventually be extracted from "We, The People." There is no "Free Lunch." 1984's Big Brother is alive and maturing in our Capitol. MG in Upstate NYRead full review...

Who is John Galt?

I love this book because of the attention to detail. Rand incorporates her philosophy into the realistic story creating idealistic characters which keep you interested. The book may be long but any less pages would not make it as great. Action, romance, and drama are all found throughout "Atlas Shrugged" without losing dignity.Read full review...

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

I can't really rate the context of this book b/c I have not yet read it nor do I know if I ever will read it. I only bought the book b/c I needed to read it to apply for a scholarship. I got the book after the scholarship was due and after seeing how fat the book was I knew I would've never been able to finish it in time anyway b/c of where my reading level is right now. The book is like 3 or 4 inches thick & atleast half a foot long I think & does not look very appetizing for me to read for leisure purposes.Read full review...

Epic, iconic characters. Accurately predicted our pathetic govm't/society.

This is an epic story. I still remember some of the characters intimately and relate to them on occasion in real life. They are absolutely iconic. The book is dripping with a philosophy that I subscribed to 50% by nature and 95% now. It is particularly well foresighted and relates heavily/sadly to our 2008-2011 world of expanding government power and stupidity.Read full review...

I want to read more by this author.

Great book. A must read. Daughter was reading for college scholarship and was so enthralled by it, I had to read it. Eye-opening and eerily thought provoking in our political times today
