This great little gem has an all star cast including : Richard Hatch ( star of the movie Jan and Dean, also a member of the cast of all my children, no longer airing. Among other works.) Dirks Benedict ( of the A-Team among many of his works.) Lorne Greene (best known as Ben Cartwright in Bonanza) A young Jane Seymour as Sirena. Many well known actors make appearances throughout out the weekly shows. Video is amazing in the time period of filming aka the 70's. Story line of good fighting for survival against evil. I give it a 5 out of 5 for clean wholesome family viewing. A good value and source of entertainment. Recommended for all ages.Read full review...

For fans of the Original 1970's Battlestar Galactica Series, this is A great find. Though unofficial dubbed "the Cylon fight of the week", for those of us still wanting more of the exciting Special Effects we had seen in StarWars, and more food for thought on Space Travel, Glen Larson's story found A special place in America's living rooms on Sunday prime time.

As a fan of this show when it came out . I never missed an epp. I watched for years even when it was on re run.
The deleted scenes and extra really make this more enjoyable to watch .

This television series that was originally envisioned as a mini-series of a handful of telemovies, was at the last minute, ordered into a full season one hour weekly production by ABC TV. Against all odds, Glen Larson and Universal Studios delivered a universe of epic proportions to the small screen. Back when there were only 3 major networks, this herculean task was clearly a superhuman endeavor! Faced with impossible expectations of production output for such a huge undertaking, the crew of "Battlestar Galactica" brought to the living rooms of America a weekly production that multi-million dollar motion pictures could never have dreamed of accomplishing! For all their hard work almost 24 hours a day, 7 days a weeks for months, #1 rated ABC TV cancelled their heavily promoted, big sci-fi series without at least giving the production a chance to rest and begin working on a second season. Later realizing they made a horrible mistake, ABC TV again ordered the production to resume full speed at a moment's notice. With corporate bean counters and now family-hour censors firmly at the helm of their stripped down, revamped sequel of sorts, the horrific "Galactica:1980" mericifully crashed and burned.
"Battlestar Galactica" was held to unrealistic benchmarks and then dismantled before it was allowed to hit it's stride. With fantastic production values, a charismatic cast, exotic new worlds, and special effects that you had to pay to see on the big screen, this is a story of what could have been, but ended too soon!

I bought this set and we (me and my boys) LOVE IT!!! I read some reviews that thought it was not complete. It is-the other series was Galactica 1980 when they arrived on Earth. This DVD series has kept us scheduling Battlestar Galactica marathons on the weekends!! I grew up watching the series and wanted to show my boys (13 and 8) this series.
