Heaps of power

Great product! Have been looking at these for a while after realising the well known brands are 4-5 times the price I took the punt on this.
Used thread lock on all parts when assembling and it stared first go with good compression and heaps of grunt.
I highly recommend this. It would be good if you could get spare/extra auger parts in particular a rock/hard ground tip as these won’t go well through that sort of ground.
Postage was quick. Came in a box and easy to assemble.

It fell to bits but warranty support first class

The machine was powerful enough to drive the 100 and 200 mm drills through hard clay easily. The PULL STARTER failed within 10 starts and lost half a day. After repairs, the next day, the MUFFLER fell apart, the throttle cable jammed wide open and the Pull starter stuffed up again. The support from Edisons was excellent with repair offers and finally FREE REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE MACHINE. It bothers me what will happen to the machine on the other side fence but as a mechanic I can reinforce the weak links before failure. With a bit of preparation and a spare pull starter it should work.Read full review...

Product seems strong and powerful enough for the job

Product was easy to assemble, all tools supplied for this requirement. Used the mixing bottle for the 2 stroke mixture. Unit started without a problem. The augers look strong enough for most types of soil. I have only used the mid sized one so far. The auger may "grab onto" and pull down into the hole if it catches a root (ie the auger will thread on the root). If this occurs the only way to get the auger out is to pull it straight up and hope the root breaks or try to reverse the auger (so it winds off the root). I would imagine this would happen to all manually held diggers anyway. So far this tool has dug several holes without a problem. My next job will be digging around 60 holes for my front fence using the largest supplied auger. If it performs the same as my previous jobs I anticipate no problems. Unit is compact and easy to handle and control. Motor seems to be of sufficient power for the jobRead full review...

Good engine, poor wear parts

I have a number of the 'Baumr-Ag' branded small engine machines. As with the others i have, the panels, guards etc are plastic and kind of crap-tacular. The actual motor though is easy to start, and produces plenty of power for the displacement. Full tank of fuel, prime and a couple of pulls and away it goes. The three augers supplied are reasonably good, light weight but rigid. First hole, using the 200mm auger, 1200mm deep in clay soil, took roughly an hour with one person operating and used a full tank of fuel. The auger bit in nicely at the start, enough that one person is not really enough to keep it steady. But within 300mm, the blade had lost its cutting edge. By the time it had dug 1200 deep, the cutting face had been worn from a positive cutting edge to a completely negative one.

If you have soft soil, or can replace the cutting edge with a more wear resistant material, this unit is an excellent buy at the <$350 price

Great Value

Really pleased with the product and service, prompt delivery and excellent after service, it can be a worry when ordering over the net, will it be as good as it looks, in this case better than expected the product works really well, we have sandy type soil and its a breeze to do the holes, highly recommend it is also easy to handle, we are older people and had no difficulty using.Read full review...

It is a lot of machine for the money

Performed better than I expected given the low purchase price. Have done about fifty holes with the 200mm auger and it has saved a lot of spade work. The 90cc motor has plenty of power and I am glad I did'nt buy a smaller machine. Hope it keeps going for a while. It does make a LOT of noise, equal to a large chainsaw.Read full review...

Posthole digger

Starts easy and worked well having renewed our front fence and digging a dozen or so holes to plant trees ex around the property. The ground is rocky in places but handled it with ease and when caught or jammed on rocks it was manageable to hold and control. All up we have drilled 42 holes with out any issues.Read full review...

powerfull, but still 1 person operational

I used the auger a couple of times for all 3 sizes; 100 mm, 200mm, 300 mm. all in heavy clay.
Unit works well and has enough power to do the 300 mm hole size.
Digging holes by hand, requires a lot of effort especially in clay. A hole of 100 mm, 600 mm deep with a hand auger cost me easy 20 minutes, while with this unit it's 2 minutes!!

I would advice against buying a unit with a smaller engine if you want to use it for 300 mm. However this unit has a lot of torque and thus require a reasonable fit person to operate it safely by 1 person. btw I am a middle aged man of average build and have no problems with the unit.

Summery; highly recommended if you have to do some planting or fencing.

Strong and powerful

Very well designed, large motor allowing the Post Hole Digger to drill through almost anything. Easy to use, almost anyone can use it. Much better then using a shovel. I would recommend this product to anyone wishing to dig holes. Putting it together was easy, just make sure the exhaust pipe faces away from the person using the digger. Great selection of drill bits and extensions.Read full review...
