Now I know why everyone likes gimbal heads for long lenses

No more overloading a tripod ball head and having a heavy lens shake when you press the shutter or not stay in position. This Benro gimbal head holds my Olympus 300mm f4 in place and makes it easier to use. The head weighs about 5 lbs and is bulky. It won't fit into a tripod bag, for example. The included plate (which attaches to the lens tripod ring) didn't stay tight when I hand tightened it; I threw a small pliers in my tripod bag but I'm careful to not over tighten it.
This gimbal head is great. I'd buy it again.

I will be getting a big lens in the near future. I saw this ad at a very low price and took a gamble. On inspection, it is like as if I had gotten it from one of the NYC camera housed. Brand new, high quality.Read full review...

Benro gh2 gimbal head

The Benro gh2 gimbal head works exactly how it is supposed to work. It is a quality product. Rotates without any binding or shake when adjusted properly. Could have purchased a cheaper gimbal but went for the better one. Very satisfied. Fast ship and great priceRead full review...

A must for large telephoto lenses

Id heard about gimbal head mounts for a while but recently came across the Benro. The price was more reasonable than other gimbals. The first day I received the head i had the opportunity to photograph a barred owl in a tree and all i can say is “WOW! Why didnt i get one of these sooner!” Better stability. Easier tracking. All around a MUST for large telephoto lenses.Read full review...

Gimbal vs Ball Head

I recently purchased a Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 zoom lens. Connected to my camera body and placed the entire rig on my Promaster Specialist tripod with Ball Head. This ball head is extremely stable and I’ve been well pleased when using the smaller lenses. But using it for wildlife photography with the large 5.12 lb lens just didn’t work. After some research and comments from the Nikon Forum, I decided to go with the Benro GH-2 Gimbal Head with supplied PL100 plate. Received it the third day after ordering, immediately put it together, mounted it on the tripod, and balanced it. Minutes later, I was outside photographing wildlife! It was an absolute dream to work with and I can’t wait to use it on my next assignment. The unit appears to be very well made; extremely smooth movements; and best yet - half or more less than half of what everyone considers top of the line. It’s got my vote as being up there with the best!!Read full review...

Works well without wasting your wallet.

It performs the way a gimbal head should perform without spending too much. The horizontal panning is smooth with very little or no play at all. The vertical movement is very smooth as well. It appears to be well built. Read full review...

Good value gimbal head

This Gimbal head is very well made rugged and heavy ( did I say heavy } The knobs are easy to use but a little large. The specs say it has variable tension adjustment but ie is vary hard to adjust it is more of lock-unlock thing. All in all it is a very well made gimbalRead full review...
