Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80Ohm review:

First thing you notice with these headphones id that the stock velour pads are extremely comfortable!
Even after hours of use there is no discomfort or sweat build-up like many leatherette pads.>
The sound stage is not as present as with open headphones or other High end closed headphones, the Mids and Treble are slightly recessed.
It is still much better than many other headphones and still very good, just not as well presented as others.
That is not why I bought them though...

The headphones are major Bass department!
Bass sits neatly in the cups and comes and kick you in the head when needed.
Listening to Prodigy, Pendulum, Combichrist and others is a real joy.

Isolation is also very good.
Nothing like a pair of construction ear-muffs, but it really takes the impact off the outside outside, dulls it so you can better enjoy your music.

Can also be driven off an MP3 player, but is much better off a dedicated amp or portable amp too boost them.

Over I rate these at an 8/10
I would like to rate 10, but that would be too biased for lack of a sound stage.
I do like a lot of bass, and these deliver.

If you want a lot of bass, I highly recommend them.
If you want better sound stage in Mid and High, look for something different perhaps.

I own Audio Technica ATH-AD700, and Sennheiser HD 212 Pro (Blu-Tack Mod)
So that is what I have to compare too.Read full review...

Not great for wider heads

I have heard and read that the 770 Pros are very comfortable and great for wide heads. I have been able to get use from them and although they are fairly comfortable, I would not recommend them to anyone who has a large, mainly wide head. They are too heavy, and just don't wear well when being used for hours on end.Read full review...

Extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time

These headphones are EXTREMELY comfortable. I can wear them for long periods of time, and sometimes I even forget to take them even though I'm not listening to anything.

They have very good sound quality at the price they are, and there is a big sound stage.

The 250 Ohms means it will be a little quieter than other headphones, but my Macbook Pro 2016 can drive them at a comfortable level at about 75% volume. (Run-of-the-mill consumer headphones are comfortable around 40-50% volume.)

Excellent Headphones for private professional mixing!

I have a lot of headphones. Sennheiser HD-25, Sennheiser HD-280, Sony (4 types), Skull Candy, Apple, etc. I make electronic music with full ranges of sounds, including heavy basslines and kick drums type percussion. Semi-Open or open monitoring headphones just don't cut it to get a good mix. Sony and other brands often have a bass boost circuit that creates a bad mix by fooling you into thinking it sounds good. Presented here are the Beyerdynamic DT 770 phones. I bought the Pro-80 version.

These headphones are amazingly comfortable. They have a bigger ear cup than most but it seals out external sound nicely. This is important to the final sound they produce. The velour fabric is quite nice feeling and even in a hot studio (with sweaty ears) it doesn't get to be like a wet blanket. The feel of the head strap is stable with a range of comfortable adjustment for small heads to big heads like mine. The cord is long and straight so it doesn't create tangles like other spiral types. But what about the sound you ask?

These headphones are all about the sound. Previously I thought my HD-25's were the best. In some ways they do "move more air" if you are trying to weigh the balance between kick drums and basslines, but the full mix can be a bit overbearing. The DT-770's have a REALLY open and full presentation in the sealed cans. The whole range of sound is equally presented to me with bass being lower than in my HD-25 but still not absent. I feel these are the closest I have found to a good set of studio monitors (I use Mackie 824's). You can hear the whole picture of what you are doing and shouldn't find any surprises in listening on other sources after your mixdown. I live where I need to have quiet, headphone based, mixdown sessions. This means good headphones are a necessity. Try these out, I am sure you will agree that they are a top notch set of cans for a really decent price.

Comfort & Quality for drummers.

I purchased these headphones for use while practicing the drums. They work very well for this application. They cancel out the loudness of the drums to protect your ears but you can still hear them enough to play accurate. The quality of sound is very good. I think the biggest factor is the quality of the source the music is playing from. They worked very well plugged directly into my home amp. I noticed that the quality of the music file made a big difference. 320kbps sounded much better than 128kbps, whereas on normal speakers I didn't notice the difference as much.

They take some time to break in but are well worth the money in the long run.

I think it's the best bang for the buck

I'm not an expert or an audiophile, but I have try several headphones(beyerdynamic custome one pro, sennheiser HD 598, beyerdynamic dt pro 990 & premium 250 ohm, V-MODA Crossfade LP, beats by dr dre solo) before I've decided to get these beyerdynamic dt 770 250 ohm. I only tried them for about 30-40 hours each.

I was using the headphones with the Creative Soundblaster Z soundcard, and I would say that the beyerdynamic dt 990 premium sounded the best (good bass, treble is not harsh, all the notes are clear). However, the price point for it is way too much ($250-300+, it fluctuates on Amazon).

I got a refurbished Beyerdynamic dt 770 250 ohm and it's almost comparable to the 990 premium. The bass is not as punchy quick as the 990 premium, but I'm satisfied. I prefer the closed headphones over the opened anyways, so yea the dt 770 is the best bang for the buck for me ($110). I only use them on my computer, and not for ipod/phone so I didn't buy an amp.

These headphones are also comfortable. I'm able to wear them for 8 hours or more (with a few minutes here and there of taking them off for bathroom and such). They do get a bit warm over time, but that's good because right now it's winter. I don't think I can use it during the summer though, it would make me sweat (i have no AC in my room).

I use these to play Counter Strike: Global Offensive competitively and I could hear the footsteps really well. I'm able to tell if the enemy is coming from the left or right, etc.

DT-770 Pro Headphones are ideal for electronic drums

To drummers especially I would highly recommend and usually do mention checking out the Beyer Dynamic DT-770 pro's ( the 80 ohm version especially ) when they are looking for the " total package " regarding choices in headphones . These headphones have an unbelieveably clean & clear sound quality to them but that's just the tip of the iceberg . The 80 ohm version in particular produces some great mid and lower presence with drums in particular , but also with keys as well as other instruments . They are also lightweight & very comfortable so you can wear them for hours on end and almost forget you have them on . I very often recommend these headphones as the first choice to my brothers & sisters within the drumming community for various reasons as mentioned above . There's alot of great qualities to these headphones that make them ideal for drummers in both live and studio environments .Read full review...

Good Cans, good price

These are the second pair of headphones that I have fallen in love with. The first pair was my Sennheiser PX100 that I bought around 5 years ago and still enjoy. I've been looking to upgrade to a pair of good studio monitor headphones for a few months now, and after I heard the name Beyerdynamic tossed around several times in one week, I decided to jump in and grab a pair.

They sound absolutely breath-taking. If you buy them at full cost they are a much better bang-for-the-buck than even the $400 Monster Beats, and easily on par with higher-end sennheisers.
As can be seen at HeadRoom's website, their frequency response curve is fairly flat, giving some good bass that doesn't completely drown out the mids and highs. Contrast that with the "Beats", you'll see that the "Beats" will sound muffled and boomy, with not nearly the accuracy: http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=713&graphID[]=1443
As an aside: I still love Monster as a company. They make great speaker wire, and they stand behind their warranty on their wonderful surge protectors. But I will take the Beyerdynamics any day over similarly price "popular" headphones.

Excellent headphones!

I'm an audio nut dating back to the '70's and my headphone of choice back then was the Koss Pro 4AA. For bass, midrange and treble, they were hard to beat for the price. But you couldn't wear them very long, unless you didn't mind your head being wedged in a vise; and then there were those sweaty ear cups that hardened after about a year of use! But being a tad older (and hopefully wiser) now, I needed something light, comfortable and still with that nice range of sound, all for a good price. I've tried phones from Sennheiser, Sony, AKG and a few others, all with mostly mixed feelings. So I decided to try the DT 770 Pros, and I'm glad that I did. They're easy on the ears, light and comfortable. Soundwise, they come very close enough to my old 4AA's with ample bass, and good treble and midrange. But with the fact that you can wear them all day, I'll give them the 5 stars and highly recommend them.Read full review...
