Good Phone.

BlackBerry's are the absolute perfect phone for someone on the go. This one is okay. I suggest getting some serious memory if you plan to run any applications or else the phone will run suuuper slowly. I have 4GB of memory and have my personal email, facebook, eBay, weather, news, and pictures. Hopefully that can kind of give you an idea of how much memory to purchase. Other than that, it's a good phone. I like that you can change the font size to fit your needs and I also like the size of it and the big screen! :D Also, with this one, you can still use the T9 feature like most phones on the keyboard, so typing can be done quickly! Overall, I would recommend this phone to someone who knows how to use BlackBerry's and/or is at LEAST okkkay with technology, as there is a lot to this phone.Read full review...

Nice Phone, if you plan to use it solely as a phone

Pros - I love how the phone is smaller than my previous phone, and that it isn't a flip phone. The camera is very nice and easy to use as just a phone. It's loud and clear when you have an incoming call, and it's got a good sized screen with options to make the text larger, change font, color, etc.

Cons - There is no button specifically designated to entering the camera mode, instead you have to scroll through a bunch of icons to find either the photo or video mode, which can take too long. The qwerty keypad is a bit cramped even though the letters are doubled-up, which makes it even harder and slower to type out a message, url address, or even just a name! When typing, you have to choose which letter you want by scrolling to it, which can take up to 4 times as long as if you were typing on a standard cell phone with only 12 buttons.

Overall it's a nice phone if you don't plan to be using it to sms or send emails a lot. I only wish that the qwerty keys worked similarly to that of any other non-smart-phone.

Good solid smart phone, small & light package

I completely disagree with the review saying there's no dedicated camera button. That is simply wrong. There are configurable buttons on either side that you can assign to any function. Not even my new Droid has that feature. The fact that I still find myself missing my Pearl sometimes tells me it's a pretty decent little smart phone. When it comes to function, RIM knows their stuff. As with any tool, there's a learning curve (and that includes the unique keyboard) but after you've spent a little time with it, the Pearl is very efficient and capable. By modern standards, the camera is nothing special. And lint can collect between the screen and the case and it's difficult to clean out. Otherwise, it would have an 'excellent' rating from me.

(Full disclosure--I'm selling this phone as I write this review. That said, it's an honest assessment that I decided to post after seeing at least one negative review that was so far off the mark.)

BlackBerry Pearl

Actually, this is a backup phone for my daughter.......she is pretty rough on phones so needs a spare. She likes the smaller size a lot. She also has a Storm and a Curve. She tends to get them wet.......running in the rain with it..........texting from the shower........the usual stuff college girls do. One always seems to be drying out in the oven! The fact that they come back to life says a lot for the product. Thank goodness Verizon lets you activate your different phones online easily.Read full review...

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 (Verizon Wireless)

this is a very good phone. it has all the features you would really need in a phone & it is very easy to use & set up. it has a 2 mega-pixel camera(with flash) which takes good quality photos. there are two downfalls to this phone 1.it doesn't accept SIM cards (it's CDMA), so it only works in the USA and it doesn't have WIFI... but apart from that it's a very good phone at a reasonable priceRead full review...

Blackberry Pearls BAD things

I liked the variety of things this phone was able to do.(Videos,Pics,Text,Etc.)However, before I won this phone,I was scepticle about the "roller ball" in the middle to control all your business.Well, low and behold, 3 weeks after I bought the thing, had it connected, I was likin the thing ,Trying to get to understand how to use everything, and dog if my nightmare came true! Just 3 weeks into it, the roller ball quit working going down. I can still use the phone, but its virtually no better than a freebie phone without the controls! I cant even turn the doggone alarm off in the mornings without having to take the battery out! I WILL NOT EVER BUY ANY MORE!! Not to mention the extra $30.00 a month just for connecting it on top of my normal bill! 2 cell phones and internet service almost $200.00 a month. Not worth it.Trust me-dont do the roller ball deal.Read full review...

Room for improvement...

I like that it enables me to basically have a hub for all my communications: email, phone, text and the like. It does have one major irritant and that is that, on occasion, when I start it up, the home screen has trouble loading. The screen lights up, but has no graphics - just white light. I have tried pressing every button to try and rectify, but the only fix is a soft reset - remove the battery and then it seems to work properly until the next time it randomly chooses to fritz out on me again, lol.Read full review...

blackberry pearl

Has a lot of great features i.e. internet, email, camera, video recorder. I bought it used so at first it was very slow. I had to figure out how to delete irrelevant info to free up some space and now it runs at an average speed. It is not the easiest phone to use though as you kindof have to search to get to different features.Read full review...

Great Phone!

Here are my pros and cons of the Blackberry Pearl 8130 smartphone for Verizon Wireless.

Pros:
Cool looking and attracts attention
Nice, easy to get used to keyboard
Suretype technology
Glossy silver finish
Chrome accents along sides of phone, camera and around trackball
Very fast, impressed on how fast internet pages load on this phone
LONG lasting battery (I text and use internet on this phone all day)
Does NOT freeze like many Blackberrys do
Clear, shiny display
Loud speakers
Loud speakerphone and earpiece
Backlit keyboard
You can watch youtube videos on it

Those were only some of my pros about this phone. Now time for the cons.

Cons:
Backlit keyboard is not very good looking, but gets the job done
Sometimes slow
Not the most clear cell phone camera out there
Very fragile, one drop on the concrete, and it's dead
loose back cover, very shaky
Chrome can come off of the phone itself over time
Needs a case
Trackball seems looser, and different feeling than most Blackberry trackballs I have used before

Those were some of my pros and cons on this phone. I have had a good run with this phone, and have only been using it for a month now though and have two years of use ahead of me. I recommend buying this phone all the way. If you get it, I hope you enjoy it, I do. :)

I love this phone!

I have owned several different styles of Blackberry phones over the years.I have only two problems with blackberry phones. 1st, if you have a number that is spelled out, ex: 1-800-Directtv, you will have to go look at a regular phone to figure out the number due to the integrated number letter key board. 2nd, you can not use the internet and talk at the same time. This may be due to carrier quality. I know AT&T offers phones that can do it but Verizon does not. On to why I love this phone! By far,for a non-touch screen phone this is the best style of Blackberry. It does everything you need a phone to do and more. The camera takes good clear pictures and you can cut, crop and zoom in or out on the pictures. The videos are clear and the music player sounds great. I can expand my music collection, video length, and amount of pictures or documents on here via the mini sd card that slides right in on the side of the phone.(Not behind the battery) The suretype feature makes texting and emailing a breeze and it even spell checks as you go. You have a select, cut, copy and paste feature like a computer that makes it real easy to relay messages to more than one person at a time. You can also make group contacts so that you can send pictures or text to one name in your address book and it goes to everyone you put under that group name. The contact information you can store within each contact is almost endless. Name(First,Last,Company,Title at company, addresses (work & home),phones(8),email addresses(2),if they have a blackberry, their pin number for the blackberry instant messageing system (which is also a brilliant idea for family and friend blackberry users)birthdays, anniversarys it is almost endless. I use the calculator feature a lot. I also use the calendar for everything! There are tons of apps for even this blackberry. NFL,Weather,Games, Document translaters,Free ringtone, screen saver, and picture download sites dedicated to blackberry users. You never have to go without on this phone just because it isn't a touch screen. I have never had any trouble getting signal with this phone. I have been on Cingular,AT&T,Alltel and now Verizon with blackberry. Even when my son's Motorola and husband's Samsung phones don't have signal,I manage to have a bar or two on my blackberry. I can talk and text or email at the same time, which with a high schooler is brilliant and a life saver most times. You can take notes, record lectures and even bluetooth them all right to your computer. Not to mention if you have an important meeting at work you can upload your presentation right to your phone from your computer, plug your phone in via usb or bluetooth and dish your presentation in your meeting! There is so many more features but no where near enough room to discuss them all. The battery lasts two days if all you are doing is texting and emailing. Talking and texting and emailing you will put it on the charger every night. Get the extended battery and you will be amazed at the time between charges. I have the extended battery and with average use, I put mine on the charger every other night. If you are one of those people who has a phone glued to your ear all day, you will charge it every night. I have never had to have a mid day charge with the extended battery. If you are looking for simple or complicated you found it in this phone! You can do anything with this phone and it is so small you can just slide it right into your pocket and go. Brilliant!Read full review...
