Gotta love the crackberry

Now that I have a Blackberry, I do not know how I ever survived without one. I can see now why it has earned the popular name of Crackberry. Here is my review for the Backberry Tour and I hope it helps!

SCREEN:
The screen is pretty amazing. It’s not a huge panel but the colors are rich and and text and graphics look as sharp as ever. Additionally it looks like there’s a harder plastic covering the LCD than there is on the Bold and 8900 and it feels solid.

CALLING:
Calls came through loud and clear, and callers can hear me perfectly on the other end.

SPEAKER/SPEAKER PHONE:
The speaker and speakerphone function on the Tour are good. You can really tell this was designed as a business device. There’s only one speaker on the left side since the 3.5mm headset jack is on the right. I personally do not have a bluetooth, so I just use the speaker phone when I'm driving and it works well.

KEYBOARD:
The best and most efficient way to type on the Tour is not to press on an entire key but on the angled area of a key. This let’s you pound through emails with relative ease and doesn’t really let your finger hit more than one key a time. It is Simple, easy to use, and perfectly laid out. It’s a winner.

BATTERY LIFE:
Battery life is impressive. I've heard that even with the exact same usage and same applications installed, you are able to get double to battery life using the Tour compared to the Bold.

CONCLUSION:
I would highly reccomend this phone. Overall, I give it a very good rating.

Blackberry Tour 9630 is a Great Phone

I have had my BlackBerry Tour for a year now, they were purchased from Verizon at a fair price. It has done wonderfully in most categories.

Likes:
The calls have been loud and clear with very little problem with dropped calls even in the outlying areas.
The phone overall has held up well, the display has been great and no problems from any keys or buttons on the phone.
The battery life has been good, it last for days though it depends on usage, far better than my previous smartphones.
The internet browsing has work well, easy to navigate another functional component of this phone.
The email and text features work well. Blackberry messenger is a nice utility with unlimited character length. All having a decent spell checker that I definitely need.
The calendar is great, I live by my calendar and this phone has a great one.

Dislikes:
The only dislike on this phone is the trackball. It can be flaky at times not wanting to traverse the screen.

Over all this has been a great phone.

Solid Blackberry that uses a trackball.

I was looking for a Blackberry device that has a nice look and wasn't to expensive. I used the phone for about 2 weeks. It is a great blackberry although it is one of the last models using the trackball. I am not a fan of the trackball but with this device, I had no problems with it but I still prefer the trackpad. Blackberry apps are still behind from Apple's Appstore but it had a lot of useful ones when I browsed through them. The new Blackberry OS gives the Blackberry more intuitive and easy feel of use. Didn't feel like I need to be a genius to figure out how to use the phone. Everything flowed nicely. The phone itself is appealing to the eye in my opinion. No downside really. Solid Blackberry device but if your willing to spend a little more then get a new Blackberry model. =]Read full review...

A data in the United States and Canada. Other key features include video capture, 3.5mm audio jack, memory card slot, push email, QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, and GPS navigation. Blackberry Tour 9630 'World' phone

The Tour is a great device if you love Blackberry and need the entertainment aspect spiced up a bit. A nice 480x360 screen is the biggest. (with a qwerty k/b) The 3.2 mp camera like the 8900 and Storm, is the best. It has the latest O/S version. The form factor is a great size too, a little smaller that the bold, touch bigger than the Curves. The strikes are; NO WI-FI, only 2100 MHz 3G supported. If you expect 3G speed with AT&T, your s.o.l. This is single band 2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA only, and made for the CDMA/EVDO folks. The Tour will only do EDGE at best with AT&T's 1900 MHz 3G, nuts! Love Verizon, this is made for you! Strong with AT&T, looks like the bold for now. Love Wi-Fi, then 8900 Javelin or 9000 Bold. Just can't get it all in one package. (YET??!?)Read full review...

Another GREAT Blackberry - The Tour 9630

I've had the Tour for about a week now. I had been anxiously waiting for this Verizon Blackberry hybrid-cross between the Bold and the Curve for months after my contract ended on a Neanderthal 8700G with T-Mobile and I was afraid that my expectations would exceed reality. I have to say that I am very, very pleased!

The device is beautiful, black and solid in one's hand. The screen is large and clear. The buttons are all in logical positions. The software is a vast improvement over earlier versions. The camera is 3.2 mp auto focus and takes better than average pictures....for a smart phone.

I am still getting used to the qwerty keyboard....the keys are small, smooth and strangely angled. There must be an ergonomic reason for the up and to the side tilt to each key but my thumbs are resisting the logic!

The track ball is slightly recessed and is easy to use (and the horizontal and vertical sensitivity is adjustable).

Making and receiving phone calls is a snap. The call reception has been clear and virtually distortion free. I have no muffled sound experience reported in other reviews. Even on a noisy sidewalk, I am told that the sound quality is clear and crisp. I took the Tour up to a cabin in the Lake District of Northern Minnesota and it worked seamlessly. Calls, texts, and browsing as if I were home in Manhattan.

My biggest pleasure so far is the lightening speed of receiving email! In HTML! And web browsing! And Googling! Fast, fast, fast.

One complaint is that web pages are still a bit too small for really enjoyable browsing. And there is no touch screen to enlarge areas with fancy finger work a la IPhone. One can choose between "Column View" or "Zoom In" but sometimes neither option gets things really the size one would like.

Why can't this thing ring and vibrate simultanously? Seems like a silly oversight but the Blackberry engineers must have some reason behind it. You can buy an ap to fix this problem....but?

Another caveat is that the BlackBerry App Store is not fully stocked with Apps yet. The choice is still slim and sort of pathetic compared to the big, sexy, fully loaded "candy shop" of selections for the IPhone.

The pre-loaded Blackberry Map application worked very well with the GPS function turned on. In fact, it navigated better than the Garmin Nuvi on the dashboard of the car.

Blackberry 9630

I bought the Blackberry 9630 and was very impressed with it, it is fast and has a great deal of features that I can use for my business. It’s able to hold a lot of photos, apps, games, videos and take great looking pictures. It is also simple to use and program I would recommend this phone to anybody who is looking to run a business or anybody just looking to be in touch with their emails on the spot. This phone offered by RIM is a great addition/asset in the way I run my business from day to day status.Read full review...

Phone is cute and easy to use.

I bought the tour because i have previously owned this phone and I enjoyed using it. Its easy to use and I like the camera. The internet is fast and the battery does last for a couple of hours. I love using pandora on it and listening to music while Im texting. The qwerty keyboard is useful and easy to use. I wish this phone had a trackpad instead of a trackball tho because i heard the trackpad lasts longer.Read full review...

A decent value for my situation considering the price of other smartphones.

I loved the BlackBerry Tour 9630...especially the first time around. But since then I've had the iPhone and going back to a Blackberry replacement after I had my iPhone stolen has been tough. It's like having gotten used to taking a one hour airplane flightonly to have to go back to driving on a 6-hour road trip. That said, as a phone, it works great. Checking e-mail and browsing the web, well it's nice being able to be connected but it is slow and awkward and lacks the awesome interface of the operating systems on the touch smartphones. It takes a while to load, it's not wi-fi capable and doesn't use the 3G network. BUT that's comparing it to my iPhone. Otherwise, I am happy to have a handset that wasn't too costly but still allows me to connect to the web and my emails. And drawing back on my prior loving memories of my first Blackberry Tour handset, I figured I'd be kind and give it a solid 3. And until I'm eligible for my new iPhone upgrade that makes that phone more affordable, I'm learning to love my BB again.Read full review...
