They work when there filled.
There is cheaper products of the same nature out there but I have always used Boveda packs . They really should be a little cheaper than what they are for a pouch of water but hay I get it. My only gripe about this last order was out of a 10 pack of 62% 3 of them were only half filled and you could really feel the granular substance in them when they start drying up, pissed me off and you can bet Boveda ain’t going to make it right. Keeps humidity at 62%
These thugs are awesome, I was hesitant but I’m a believer now. If you need to keep things at certain humidity these things work great, use them in my gun cabinet and other places.

Put these in a mason jar and the interior of the jar will adjust to 62% relative humidity.
This assumes that the contents of the jar are reasonably close to 62% to start with.

Shipped In A Plastic Bag?
I just received the 10 pack I ordered and it came in a re-sealable plastic bag which doesn't seem like a good way to send or store unused Humidity Packs in order to keep them fresh. Size is good ..Time will tell if these help.Read full review
