Unexpectedly Awesome

I bought this game because I love metal and I was interested to see how it might be incorporated into a game. Normally I don't really like anything Jack Black does, but his performance in this game is really very good. The graphics are a bit last gen, but that's just the style of the game.

The soundtrack to this game is a fantastic compilation of several decades of different metal bands. The sound effects aren't bad, but they aren't terribly memorable either. The storyline is a bit loose, but it does become engaging, especially with the amazingly hot transformation of Ophelia. The combat itself is a bit one note (har har), however it's not just a button masher. There's a bit of an RTS aspect for some parts, which is going to turn some of you off, but it's not extremely limited, in fact it uses a pretty cool concept that you just have to roll with.

The game itself is pretty versatile and gives a few guest appearances to some of the gods of metal, I won't spoil who, but let's just say that round sunglasses and a British drawl should be expected. Overall, the game seems a bit unpolished because of its seemingly privately-funded nature, however it's definitely a game worth getting. The world is expansive and the secondary missions are pretty cool. If you know a fair amount about metal and the rock world, you'll definitely enjoy this game.

I'm not a "gamer, but....

What an awesome game!! I'm not what you'd call "a gamer", but this game is forgiving of that in that when you keep failing to accomplish a task, if you keep trying, it'll eventually let you win and move on through to the next phase. One thing I didn't like is that there's a large number of places where the main character gets stuck and won't move,(my fault) I had to restart the level. Graphics and storyline are truely original and very cool. I'm an older guy, but I love this game! Some of the graphics in certain parts of the game freezes up for a second, that causes the game to freeze up for a second or two as well. I LOVE that '32 Ford hot rod that I can personalize and summon from anywhere. Good job on this one EA!! Yes, I'd definately recommend this game to my friends and family.Read full review...

Awesome game. A MUST PLAY!!!

Great game. Seems to have a lot of graphic glitches, i.e. AI's get stuck or you get stuck but only in areas like corners of 2 trees that you shouldn't be, but doesn't stop the game from being fun for a second. Decently long, verrry funny videos and scripts, and awesome sound track. One of the best adventure games I've ever played ESPECIALLY on the new systems. Only games that would beat it in my opinion are the greatest ones like Metal Gear solid and God of War. They're not necessarily the same genre but I would put Brutal Legend up there close to them. If can get for under $15, definately grab it a.s.a.p. Sells for $20 new and $17.99 used at game stores. Even at that price though it's a great game.Read full review...

Gotta Love Jack Black

I purchased this game because my daughter insisted. I found this game to be truly entertaining and just plain FUN! The story line is a hoot and you'll enjoy it! The dialog is a bit repetitive but that is very easily excusable. The story line is perfectly strange and keeps your interest. There are challenges so that you don't fly through in a day (which can be frustrating due to the cost of games). If you like Jack Black, Rock-n-Roll, mild violence and mild sexual undertones, this is the game for you. Buy it! Great condition without a scratch. Really like new!Read full review...

Not quite what I was hoping for......

Aside from the music, this game is not truly "Metal". I liked Jack Black as eddie and the Cameos with Ozzy, Lemmy and Halford ect. but the game was not what I hoped it would be. It wasnt dark, intense or serious enough to be "metal". But thats Tim Shafer for ya. I wasnt a big fan of psychonaughts either. The voice overs got real repetitive and the gameplay was just alright. I traded it in quickly after reaching the end. A true metal lover would see that this game just didnt do the genre justice. Its just too "cute" and "quirky". Its kind of like the band from the opening scene who starts off playing some good riffs but once they deviate from that it all falls apart. A Game like God of War, Darksiders or even Dantes Inferno are more "Metal" than Brutal Legend despite none of them having a long list of metal songs. Metal is about crushing all you hate under you boot and spiting in its face. Brutal legend is to Metal what The Munsters are to Horror.Read full review...

Very fun and interesting game

A very fun game with a interesting though kinda corny story.
I'm not sure what to make of it other then a game style of its own. This game has some great music in it if your a metal fan. Lots of Music from my younger years and even some new stuff I've never heard before. This game is very polished. Most games I've bought over the years are riddled with glitches. This one has very few (Only One I was able to find and duplicate.)

There are however a few gripes with it. Its a linear game that's short to play threw. Its also not all to difficult even on the hardest difficulties.

Great Game! Great Music! If you have't played it yet, YOU MUST!

I played this game when it first came out a few years ago and man is this game under estimated. Brutal Legend is a very well made game, with a great story, great voice overs, amazing music and all in all a great gaming experience. I do not play many single player games, but this is one I really enjoyed. i am a big fan of Jack Black and Tenacious D, and since the D's new album, Rize of the Fenix, I had to get this game again to play as the original Roadie, Eddie Riggs!Read full review...
