A worthwhile read

I enjoyed it very much .It certainly gave me a insight as what life was like in london area in the 1950s. J Sivyer.

Excellent book + a 'must-read' if you love the 'Call the Midwives' TVseries

A great read that gives you a wonderful insight into the lives of not only the families who lived in the East End of London in the 1950s - but of the nurses/doctors who cared for them deeply. I have already seen the Midwives TV Series which I loved and the TV Series follows the stories and characters in the book very closely. I was shocked by the appalling poverty and conditions that people lived in - yet there were many times in the book that I laughed or cried. It is the sort of book that you just can't put down - you HAVE to keep reading! I can't wait to read the sequel!Read full review...

Good well written book will read other books she has published GREAT

I bought this book as I had seen the TV version and wanted to read her book.I found it very interesting and I was very sympathetic towards the way they had to deliver babies in the 1950s.I would definitely purchase one of her other books to read.I bought it off ebay and was very pleased with the very good condition and hopefully I will be able to buy her other books the same way.Read full review...
