Really a first rate second rate film

Cannery Row

Cannery Row is one of the greatest comic stories of my life made from two of John Steinbeck's books ("Cannery Row" and "Sweet Thursday"). I have loved this movie since seeing it in the theatres. My wife bought me a used copy of the VHS (she spent $80.00 to buy it used back in the 80's) because she shared my love for it. I still watch it an average of 3 times a year as it gives me the reminder of each of its characters that I love like Doc, the Seeer, Hazel (the giant with the mind of a 5 year old), Mac and the boys, and on and on. The great frog escapade and the scene where Doc and the Kid (Susie) try dancing are two of my favorite scenes. And when the Seeer hits the softball out of the park, I usually find a tear in my eye. If you watch this movie and don't find yourself laughing, and crying, you'd better check your pulse to make sure you're still alive.Read full review...

Cannery Row 1993 VHS

I just love this movie. I think it is one of the best movies ever made. The story is wonderful and the acting can't be beat. Best movie Nick Nolte ever made. Debra Winger is flawless and Audra Lindley is a hoot. Couldn't find a copy for a long time. This copy is not in perfect condition but is plenty good enough to see everything. It was shipped in an excellent manner and on time. Wish someone would put a remaster DVD of this movie on the market.Read full review...

we ejoy an old movie from the past . this movie was watchable barely. the sound quality was bad . we have looked at other movies and we watch the rating of the seller. ie. the summer of 42 . the seller doesn't have at least a 98% rating and the film is rated accepable. the sellers rating is 96?%. my seller said cannery row was very good . so we won't buy summer of 42. until some seller has a 98 up dating . the reason being it costs too much to send them back i write a review and you reject because it was 5 letters to short .Read full review...

Cannery Row (1982) Debra Winger (WHERE IS THE DVD?!?!)

This movie should be released on dvd!
Debra Winger is a fantastic actress and besides "Mike's Murder", this is the only other of her films STILL not on dvd format.
The story is based on the John Steinbeck novel.

Is anything real?

The movie was in a box...a video store box. The movie had a sticker on the video itself...glued on. The video was a third generation (at least) copy passed off as the real thing. Very poor quality and a crappy experience.Read full review...

Cannery Row

It's an old movie that is like very much and could not find locally and is not on DVD. The story line is great and the actors some of my favorites. It is both touching and funny.

Great price

This movie is a classic. I needed a copy for my libary. The only draw back is It's not DVD and the quality of the picture
is far less, but still enjoyable and price was right.
