Versatile Canon Lens with lots of features
This is an excellent lens that I did a lot of research on. Brand new, full price, it's roughly twice as much as what it was listed for here.
The description said:
"MINT Canon 24-105mm 1 : 4 L USM Lens + Case + Cleaner
The Lens is in overall Excellent condition with some slight signs of use. Includes Lens carrying protective bag and Cleaner!
No dust or debris. Shows very slight sign of use but everything works 100%."
What it DIDN'T say is that there is a hairline scratch on the outer surface of the lens, in the upper right quadrant, about 3/8" of an inch long. When I first saw it I was disappointed, but thought I'd give it a try. I've field-tested it on several dozen photos and don't see any evidence that it's affecting the photos, but it would have been nice to have that indicated on the description.Read full review...

Not my greatest Canon L Lens
Early testing shows it is not very sharp at near infinity and seriously and consistently front focuses. I am loath to attempt to fix the front focus problem by micro-adjusting so I will probably end up sending it to Canon for calibrationRead full review...

Fine lens
Great focal length. 28-105mm; covers Street / Holiday / portrait / Landscape and one can even zoom in to a degree. The image quality is good enough to zoom in more in edit. I had to reduce the file size for eBay upload, hence just the one :)Read full review...

Excellent Value For All That You Get
This lens has been a great value. Fixed aperture throughout the full range. L series glass! Excellent range either for a full frame camera or a crop sensor. This copy has worked flawlessly with both my 5D classic and my SL3.Read full review...

Sharp image, versatile range
The 24-105 focal length covers a wide range of applications and allowed me to replace tow older kit lenses. The autofocus is quick and sharp, and the Canon L series has a good reputation for quality construction.Read full review...

Great all purpose lens
I shoot wildlife primarily, but when not doing that this lens is on my camera. Great walk around lens and landscape lens. Excellent lens for the money. If looking for an indoor lens I would go with f 2.8 as this lens doesn’t seem to perform great indoor with low light setting without flash. But would definitely recommend, 24-105mm is a great lens.Read full review...

Does the job well.
A good choice for a 24-105mm focal length. Not the sharpest lens in the bag, but the best focal length for much of what I shoot. Weight becomes an issue; this lens is heavy, but not as heavy as carrying 3 prime lenses with the same focal reach. Read full review...

Great all around lens - sharp but a bit slow
PROS: Size and weight are appropriate for full size camera bodies. The zoom range is perfect for 90% of most shooting situations. I found the lens produced very sharp images except when shot wide open and at the extremes of the zoom range but this is typical for most zoom lenses. The IS system worked great.
CONS: At F-4 this is a pretty slow lens when shooting at anything over 85mm in dim light unless you use ASOs over 400. I'm a traditionalist and like to keep my speed at or below 200 if possible. The IS helps but F-4 is still a slow lens and just at the edge of providing well blurred backgrounds for close-ups. I'd have given it an excellent rating but for the F-4 and loss of edge sharpness at wider appatures.Read full review...
Stable lens for videography, with two drawbacks
This review is based on my use of this lens for videography.
1. The lens is NOT parfocal, i.e. you cannot zoom in, focus, zoom out, and expect the image to be still in focus. You must focus the focal length at which you are shooting. It is not significantly far off when you do this, however. But I recommend Magic Lantern with any non-parfocal lens, for its ability to do focus assist while recording.
2. Many videographers use DSLRs to achieve shallow depth of focus. At f/4 maximum, this lens is not especially good at this, but toward 105mm, it does offer a pleasing out-of-focus-background effect.
3. The biggest revelation (and positive feature) about this lens is its image stabilization. For still photography, it enables you to shoot sharp images at a slower shutter speed. For videography, it makes your shot significantly steadier. Well worth it, and I hesitate now to buy a non-IS lens, unless there are compelling reasons.
4.Overall, a great lens for videography, despite its shortcomings.Read full review...
Big difference in quality over kit lens.
I am using this lens with a Canon T5i. I am relatively new to digital slr photography and a friend recommended that I purchase this lens. I did some research and bought it. The results are worth it, without saying anything I started to hear comments from friends about how good the pictures were. I am going to take the credit for that and not tell them about the lens.
It is expensive but worth it if you are planning on improving your picture taking skills or just want better photographs.Read full review...

Best lens for everyday use
Simply put, this lens is top notch for everyday use. The zoom length is right where you need it for great close ups while still giving you a decent wide view. Everyone should have one of these in their kit!Read full review...
