Great lens that doesn't weigh you down

Had one in the past and sold it after getting a canon 70-200 F2.8 lens. I must say that this 4.0L lens is very sharp and is alot lighter when carrying around for extended amounts of time. The 2.8 lens has it's purpose but this lens is still just as nice and although being one stop slower, it doesn't really matter too much with today's digital cameras and higher iso capabilitiesRead full review...

A Honest all around utility Lens.

When you drop serious money for a lens you are going to be a bit nervous and because of reasonable price you surely worry more. I lucked out with a honest gentleman that described the lens with accuracy and when I put the lens on both my cameras it showed a crystal clear image and auto-focus along with manual worked flawlessly and the only thing I found on camera was a small scratch on the UV filter. I quickly replaced it and I now am going to take this great all around utility lens out and put it through the paces. I am very happy over this lens as it is in excellent condition and mechanically sound.Read full review...

I love this lens.

I was on the fence about this lens mainly because of the price they cost but I decided it was worth it and it absolutely was. Clear sharp images I use it on a 6D and a 80D and get great shots. If you are on the fence do yourself and your photography a favor and buy one. Personally I use it for toy and pet photography and it has never let me down. Now it isn’t an “IS” but I have used it on and off a tripod and get great shots. The focus speed is awesome and unless you are shooting at super high speeds without tripod you won’t need “IS”. Great Lens!!

Great Product, the only downside that I can see is that it doesn't have Image Stabilization. I love that the length doesn't change when you zoom, images are crystal clear....

Canon's "Best Value" L-series lens

I bought this "entry level" canon L zoom lens to replace the exact one I had passed on to my son. I found that the light weight and extremely sharp images were a combination that I missed even though I had other lenses that overlap its focal range.

This lens has always been the best way to experience the "pop" of Canon's L-series color. Great value and great lens.

Great Intermediate Lens

When compared to the plastic 70-300mm telefoto lenses offered with the low end Canon DSLR lineup, this lens is a huge step up. The image quality is superb, it’s made of some great glass. The bokeh created by the f4 is plenty for most shooting situations. Overall, it’s a great lens. It only falls short of the 70-200mm f2.8 with the aperture and the image stabilization, both features that not everyone needs. Before spending the extra money on the more expensive version, consider this lens.Read full review...

Versatile and durable

This Canon "L" lens fits the bill! True that it does not have image stabilization but since a lot of my work involves some means of support, the IS would be turned off anyway. I hold the camera/lens on target waiting for just the right moment to snap the image.

The f/4 aperture is wide enough for my uses (nature/bird photography) and it provides a great "blurred background" that makes the subject of the image snap out even more.

I like it - it is light enough to have available. After all - what's the use of a lens that you leave home because it it too heavy - this one is just right!

Crisp, clear and absolutely awesome!

This lens produces extremely sharp and clear photos! If you want a semi telephoto lens, that’s definitely worth buying, look no further. Have nothing but good to say about this baby!

You won't miss the stop of light, but you will love the lower weight!

Incredibly sharp images, works flawlessly on EF, EF-S, and RF systems (with teleconverter). Very fast focus, very low distortion, great color, and HALF the weight of the 2.8 version, which is a bigger deal than you can imagine. I used to use the 2.8 70-200mm for event photography, my back would be killing me with that version. Remember that the extra pound and a half is hanging out 8 inches from the camera, so the fulcrum effect makes the lens feel like it's pulling a lot harder than that. Sometimes I would be in pain for hours. Rarely have I missed the extra stop of light, but I've always appreciated my ability to move around all day with this lens and end up with the same high-quality of photos!Read full review...
