Canon EF 50 mm lens

I recently purchased the older canon EF 50 mm lens. Then I said to myself let me buy the canon 50 mm STM lens and if it’s better I’ll just sell the first one. I’ll tell you the truth I can’t tell the difference, as a matter fact I like the older one better. It seems the auto focus is quicker, and I can’t tell the difference between the sounds of the motor. But both lenses are excellent. Read full review...

used price, used product.

the focus ring stays extended. You have to physically push on it for it to retract. until you have to focus all the way in it works great. I'm going to invest in a new one.

Essential Lens

Small size, sharp, fast focus, very quiet. Build is plastic but feels decent.

Excellent value

I'm a photography newbie, more into video. This seems to be the best value you're going to find for a lens like this for Canon EOS cameras. Images are extraordinarily sharp and the shallow depth of field makes for stunning shots for both still and video. Autofocus works very fast with this lens in a pinch. The biggest downside for video is the lack of stabilization, but on a tripod I have enjoyed using this greatly. Read full review...

Functions as a moderate telephoto on an APS camera

This lens in the gold standard for its combination of affordability, sharpness, and wide aperture. Be aware that on a camera with an APS sensor, this 50mm lens functions like an 80mm lens would on a full-frame camera. In other words, it has a rather narrow field of view. That's exactly what I wanted for my purposes (shooting videos with a narrow background) but that may not be the case for other potential buyers.Read full review...

A Wonderful Prime Lens From Canon

I use this 50mm prime lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor size. That means that the this full-frame lens acts as an 80mm lens on my camera. That is the perfect lens effect for doing portrait work.r>
There is no prime lens on the market designed for APS-C cameras that produces an 80mm effect. And to boot, this lens with its f/1.8 lens opening gives a great softness to backgrounds. Love it!Read full review...

Worth the $$$

Image quality is very good. If you’ve never tried a low f-stop prime lens, this is the place to start. It is not a wide lens, especially on a crop sensor camera but would do great for portraits. No regrets on this buy!Read full review...

50 mm lens

This is a fine quality canon primary lens. The automatic functions are very useful and the fact that it was designed for a different camera to mine isn’t much of a problem.

Pro-looking portrait effects at an amature price.

Excellent for close-up portraits.

Pretty much automatically blurs background, creating BOKEH, which draws attention to the person, and gives a more pro look.

Also was a great price here.Read full review...
