Nice camera

I recently bought the eos rebel sl1. It is very easy to use and has a ton of features that are more than I would ever use. It's light and easy to hold. I haven't purchased an additional lens, very happy with the 18-55 it came with. The only thing I do not like about it and anyone buying it should know, you cannot take video looking through the viewfinder. You are forced to use the lcd screen or what Canon calls live view. If I had known that I might not have purchased the camera as I take a lot of pictures in the sun and glare is a problem. But I like the other features of the camera so much I'll forgive it. If you take pictures with a cellphone you won't have a problem. I also like the direct HDMI to HDMI connectivity to my HD TV. Overall, it is a really nice camera. Read full review

Still a Gem

I know the SL1 is an older model now, but it is still a wonderful camera. I upgraded from the 40D and it has ease of use features that are a noticeable improvement. The nicest thing for me is the small size, since I shoot a lot of photos and lugging it around is very easy. I still have the 40D as a backup, and the lenses are interchangeable!Read full review

Holy crap! This works so well!

While this product is starting to be a bit long in the tooth and we can probably expect the next gen camera to come out soon, this is a great next step for the budding photo enthusiast. I chose this camera for its ability to take great photos and do 1080p video.

The camera works great in auto and takes generally good photos in this mode for the regular point-n-shooter. It is a bit smaller in my hands than I expected but with a hand strap you don't get tired. This does not have the multipoint autofocus of its bigger cousins but can still get great photos. The kit lens does a good general job but if you were planning on spending time taking pictures of wildlife get a telephoto lens.

For the thousand or so pics I have taken, I have only scratched the surface of its capabilities. I am looking forward to learn more and go nuts.Read full review

Excellent for Beginners

The price was great for the number of items received, as part of the kit. The features and instructions made it easy for first time users. The lens (standard) provides sharper pictures for still art. Smallest, lightest compact DSLR producing amazing photos.

I always wanted a DSLR camera, but, didn't want the bulk and heaviness to carry around. This was just perfect, with the right combination of the performance, sophisticated technology and features of much bigger DSLR's, and yet still as compact as the point and shoot cameras. One thing I would have appreciated that this camera should have had is the WiFi feature. Nevertheless, the package that accompanied this camera more than made up for the lack of the WiFi feature. Will put to the test the lenses in the package on my upcoming trip in a few weeks. I experimented a bit by taking a few photos at home, and the photos were all sharp and clear, results that met my expectations.
