Excellent Choice!

We got way more than we bargained for with this camera. We bought it to supplement our Canon 5D Mark II and in most ways it smokes it. From the flip out screen to focus face recognition follow tracking to using SD cards rather than compact flash, this has quickly taken the lead for us when shooting video, which is why we have these cameras to begin with.

High quality pics, super easy to use, and less than a third the price of a 5D Mark IV should we choose to upgrade. Lightweight as well. The only complaint might be that you can't control or monitor the sound input but we record sound separately anyway. BTW the built in mic actually does a great job, much to our surprise.

Highly recommended, especially at its price point. It'll get a lot more use than our 5D, particularly on our basic projects, quick shoots and interviews, and remote projects in the field. We'll also be using it for flying on our crane jib and glide cam. Oh and it also has wi-fi and GPS if you need either.

Great Camera

TI've had this camera now for a little over two months and it has exceeded my expectations. Compared to using a cell phone or an inexpensive digital camera this DSLR blows the image quality of the others out of the water. Not only does it create great images and videos but it's fairly easy to use, a quick learning curve. It definitely has it's quirks but nothing that gets in the way of using it. the battery life could be better and some of the menu screens are kind of bulky but this is all overshadowed by the great features this camera offers. Love the audio mic input, flip screen, autofocus, and easy controls. I highly recommend this camera especially as an introduction into the DSLR world.Read full review...

Simple but capable and robust

I bought this for my wife as a replacement for a more technical, higher-end camera I bought her for Christmas. She is a prolific photographer, and pretty good, but does not care to delve into the technical aspects of photography. The T76i is perfect for her. It combines the high image quality and flexibility of a DSLR with many of the user-friendly features common on point-and-shoot models. She loves the preset modes and the articulating viewing screen. It is light enough to hold to take selfies, yet is hefty enough to provide a sense of confidence that your photos will turn out spectacularly. The image quality is more than sufficient for the types of photos that she takes and the features are probably more than she will ever find a use for, but it is nice knowing that this camera will likely never be a limitation for my wife's photography aspirations.Read full review...

Excellent size and performance for the price

I used to have a Canon 60D and a SL1 as backup. As I have back issues I couldn't carry the 60D on long trips, so I took the SL1. However, I did fell the leap between the two of them, causing me to begin the search for a new one that could fit in the gap. I've had the T6i for a few weeks now and I think I really made a great choice. Don't get me wrong, the 60D for me still is a better camera for professional heavy duty work, but the T6i is fabulous for long trips and pleasure photography. If you can only have one, the T6i won't dissapoint you either. Compared to the SL1 I'll have to say it is indeed a bit bigger but that's actually a good thing, because the grip is far better on the T6i and all the additional features are a big plus. Some of the most noticeable features are the Wifi capability, the autofocus points, the ISO dedicated button and the quality of the images and video.
Sure it is all plastic and won't take a good drop as a magnesium body would or withstand the rain, but for the price tag I think it is understandable.
I have been using it on a bunch of different scenarios, such as outdoors, indoor portrait, studio, social events and it has not let me down yet. If you are a beginner you will find it very easy to use and understand, and if you are pro you will find it really useful as a second body or as non work travel or pleasure option just as I did.

great for serious photography

Very nice camera with lots of features. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it really is too complex for most users. I learned photography back in the 1960s with B&W film and having to manually setting everything . Over the years I updated cameras for film, even bought a Canon EOS 650 (a fantastic film camera). I'm having to learn how to really "use" this T6i which is no easy task even knowing what the settings/features do. If you are at least semi serious about really learning more than point and shoot, this camera will get you there. And if all you want are good snapshots, then set it to Auto or Program and get some very good snapsots, but it is overkill for snapshots.Read full review...

Best entry level or beginner DLSR.

The Canon EOS Rebel T6i is one of the best starter DSLRs you can purchase in 2019. There are cheaper DSLRs and equally priced cameras with more features than the T6i, like the Panasonic Lumix G7 (which is about the same in price but loaded with features) but the T6i is one of the easiest to pick up, as a beginner, and get right into shooting. Out of the box, this camera is easy to figure out. It has fewer dials and knobs than the more professional cameras and the settings management is laid out so that it is understandable buy the every day novice.
I am new to this feild as well and coming from a Lumix G7, the settings layout is so much easier to use and after watching a few good tutorial videos on Youtube, I was confident enough to start making quality videos and taking very nice pictures.
The body of this camera is right in between the smaller, mirrorless cameras and the larger, professional ones. That makes it more likely to be carried and available, if a photo opportunity should arise. This is a big features.
With the updated processor and sensor (24.2Megapixels) allows for the inclusion of their latest Auto focus technology, faze detection, that uses 19 points of focus now, as compared to the 9 on the T5 series and lower. In my testing so far, I am very happy with it's performance in the auto focus feild so far.
As for taking pictures, I am very new to this area and will not be evaluating it. But I can say that in my opinion, the pics I did take looked very "pro like" to me.
There are too many features on this camera for me to go over every one of them, but a quick search on Google or better yet, YouTube, will help you a lot, as the manual it a bit tough to get through (in my humble opinion).
A couple cons, it only goes up to 1080p 30/fps. This will not allow me to slow down my videos for a slow motion effect as 1080p 60/fps is about the minimum frames to be shooting in. Also, the display doesn't show you your mic input level while recording. So you have to hope your external microphone stays connected, or with a mic that has power, you remember to turn it in. This would be fixed with the inclusion of a scale on the screen shooting your mic input live, like my Lumix G7 has.
Also, and this is not for everyone, Magic Lantern, doesn't develope for this device. If they did, a quick download of their custom software would fix the mic input level not being on the screen.
That's about it, I urge you to watch a few YouTube videos, or read a few articles. You will be surprised. I can highly recommend this camera as an entry level/starter, budget friendly DLSR. You will not be disappointed.

Not an Instamatic Camera.

Be ready to become overwhelmed by what you as a novice don't know. This is a wonderful camera and after watching numerous instructional videos on U-tube, you seem to know less. Take heart, there is an automatic mode which saves the day until you learn how to take photographs like a pro. I feel this may take me some time to learn. After playing with it for a while I'm more confused than ever and intend to seek a photography class at the local Community College, (provided the instructors remain nonpolitical). I've been told the glass is more important than the body which is why I didn't get the two lens bundle. I now feel I should have forgone the bundle and just purchased the camera and lens alone. To a newbie, all the accompanying items seem unnecessary. The Tripods are cheap and wobble, the flash also cheap. Still haven't been able to figure out the Universal Wireless Remote Control and the list goes on.
Overall the Canon T6i is great. I am learning every time I pick it up and am looking forward to shooting some great photographs.

Amazing!

I got this camera so I can be part of a friend's local business called Moment Portraits and it's even better than the cameras I use to work with at the photo studio in Valley Plaza mall. I'm so excited to start shooting!! The price was amazing too! My main concern was that it would be too heavy on the wrist. Again I've had problems with the cameras at work before. I was always taking pain killers and wearing a brace doing everything I could to help with the aches and ugly tingling. This is so light and I can get an easy grip on it. Really worth every penny saved!Read full review...

Awesome Canon DSLR Rebel!

I just purchased this T6i to upgrade from my Rebel XT which I've had for about 15 years or so. My Rebel XT was a great started camera, but this T6i is an incredible upgrade. It's very user friendly with explanations for what each setting is for. To get the most out of this camera you will still need some understanding of Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO. I have watched several "how to" videos on youtube to learn more about these settings and when and where to use them. The main thing I like to use my camera for is sports (mainly baseball) so I love that the fps (frames per second) on the T6i is almost double (5 fps) that of the XT (2.8 fps). I haven't been able to use the T6i at a baseball game yet, but can't wait to do so next month. The pictures I've taken so far to get accustomed to the camera have been high quality--both indoors and outdoors.
I also love the flip screen which is handy for recording video as well as taking a selfie. Plus, it's a great size to review my pictures. That was the only thing I didn't like on the XT, the view screen was very small. It was hard to tell for sure if the pictures was crisp and clear. Not an issue with the T6i. Would highly recommend, even for an ameteur--which I still consider myself to be.

Well worth the investment...

This is a refurbished unit that was described as having some visible wear. For me it is an upgrade from a t2i that I have used mostly to shoot auditions. When I opened the box, I was surprised at the condition of the body and lens - pretty close to pristine - but when I shot the first video/photos is when it began to shine. Video/photo quality are very good, ease of use, touch screen etc. make this camera a pleasure to work with - it has reinvigorated my interest in still photography.Read full review...
