Compact camera with a unique feature.

Like the A1200 (12 MP) this 16MP version is packed with features that a person familiar with camera settings will like. Unique is the "live view" that lets you set image brightness, color, etc. and see the effect on the screen before you take the shot. The optical viewfinder is great for bright days and is seldom found on cameras of this type. Uses AA batteries.Read full review...

Mediocre image quality from a good brand name camera.

This inexpensive model reflects the downsides of a megapixel race that camera manufacturers had at the time. High megapixels on a small image sensor produces high noise levels, even at base ISO, and the camera tends to select unnecessarily high ISO settings that only makes the image noise worse. Earlier models with only 6-8 megapixels produced better quality images.Read full review...

Canon PowerShot A1300, a reliable camera for snapshooters

The Canon Powershot A1300-IS is the third A-series camera I own. All three are still operational. One succeeded the other in upgrades.

There are three important features that drew me to the A1300 and its predecessors.

First, it runs on two AA batteries. So do the Nikon L-series cameras. But my first powershot, an A-1100, outlasted my wife's Nikons 3 cameras to 1. AA batteries are readily available any where in the world so you don't have to remember to recharge your battery back in your hotel room when you are traveling. The power consumption on the A cameras seem uniformly low. I went on two-week vacation trips, taking somewhere around 100 pictures, without having to replace batteries (I feed my cameras with lithium batteries). So if you set off on your vacation with fresh batteries and a set of spares in the pouch, chances are you won't need any more. Just keep in mind that you can buy fresh ones, probably in gift shop right in your hotel.

Second, the A-series cameras have both view finder and display screen. Try taking a picture in sunlight using the latter.

Third, the Canon proved to be durable, more than comparable Nikons. Three of my wife's Nikon died and a 4th had to be sent back to Nikon for repair at more than $100.

In summary, the Canon A1300 will meet the needs of serious snapshooters and travelers. It certainly serves me well.

Nice compact camera with viewfinder as a BIG PLUS!

This is a good portable alternative when I don't feel like lugging around my DSLR. I selected this camera specifically because, in addition to the digital display, it has a viewfinder which is invaluable in sunny conditions. Two other advantages are that it takes standard SD memory cards which are more readily available and cheaper than other manufacturer's proprietary memory cards/sticks; and it takes AA batteries so you don't have to worry about having to recharge with no place to plug in. For a small portable it's a fine camera with very good self-contained help screens and instructions.Read full review...

Outstanding!

I am so happy I found this on eBay. Was looking to buy a new camera and stumbled into this. I saved a few hundred and I am so happy.
He did outstanding work, very friendly, and very fast service. If you have a broken camera that you love and finally figured out how to work it...and now it's broke....no fear go to Gerald's. He's amazing.
Thank you so much!!!!

Great Camera with a Viewfinder!

I think this is a great little camera. The first reason I bought it was because it was a Canon. I wanted an oldtime view finder because in sunlight, most LED screens don't show up very well. Therefore, this viewfind works great in bright light. It had 16 MP. The shutter has a pretty quick release. The red eye doesn't seem to work on my puppy's eyes though. Overall, I am very happy with the camera.Read full review...

Convenient and practical for family photos

I bought this to replace my last camera that was glitching. It is light and convenient to bring along anywhere. The memory card I got for it allows for thousands of pictures to be stored. It was a good deal for being prepared to take pictures of grandkids.Read full review...
