Great retro digital cam, awesome form. Blast from the past !

Great retro compact digital cam, all metal body and great form - a real 'blast from the past', with back-to-basics functionality, but it's all there to still take memorable images with, and it's a great travel cam. Decent image quality from the 2.1Mp sensor, and brilliant Canon image exposure / metering. Used to have one of these many years ago when I bought it new, but it accidentally 'went for a swim' and died. So glad I am able to pick up good condition, used cam's for a tiny fraction of the original price. Just be prepared to need buy a few new batteries (NB-1L's or NB-1H's) for it as undoubtedly the original batt's will no longer hold their charge. Read full review...

LOVE THIS CAMERA!!!

I originally bought this camera back in 2001, and it took fantastic photos all around the U.S., Canada and Mexico. I just threw it in my purse and didn't even take care of it at all. It just always worked.

When Old Faithful finally "died" in 2014 (after 13 years of great service), I purchased the newest Canon PowerShot. What a waste! The fancy lens covering mechanism broke within three months, I didn't really like the pictures it took, and I had difficulty adjusting to the screen instead of the viewfinder.

So I bought another Old Faithful, with which I am VERY, VERY HAPPY. Don't hesitate to buy one of these original PowerShots. It's not easy to find good (real Canon) batteries for them, but it's worth the search. You will LOVE THIS CAMERA!!!!!

Great little starter camera!!

It is a great camera for starter photographers or for people who want a simple device for taking decent pictures. Like a gas-guzzling SUV, this camera gobbles up batteries quickly. plan to buy a couple spares (I found some for $2.50 online). You're lucky to get 50 pictures out of a single charge, but if you turn off the LCD and use the viewfinder, the battery lasts longer. And in burst mode, it takes 8 pictures in about 5 second, which is really quick considering its release date was May 2000, over 10 years ago. The pictures themselves are good, and the flash does an excellent job if the lighting isn't adequate. The screen is small (1.5'") compared to current models, but the picture is sharp and bright nonetheless. 2x optical zoom works fine, but doesn't make a big difference, so if you need to get closer pictures, you're going to have to get closer. Other than those quibbles, great little starter camera!!Read full review...

Great little camera!

I bought this as a "keep in the car" camera. I was not expecting much in the way of quality from the camera as it is an older model and only 2 megapixels. However, I was very surprised by it. It takes EXCELLENT photos, sometimes better than much more "high end" recent point and shoot digital cameras. True, the resolution will not allow extremely large prints, but I have printed 5 x 7 photos from it that were gorgeous. Sharpness and color rendition are just terrific. I rate it a good instead of excellent only because the user interface is a little awkward, not bad, but not up to modern standards, but that is to be expected. I love the fact that it has a real viewfinder. I will not use a camera that forces you to use the monitor to compose and take photos. The viewfinder on the S100 is large for the size of the camera, and also quite accurate. What you see is not EXACTLY what you get, but pretty close. Battery life is very good as long as you use the monitor sparingly for photo review. So overall, a great little camera, most certainly well worth the small price I paid for it. Highly recommended if you are looking for a second camera as a backup, or to keep in a car, or to simply get into digital photography on a low budget.Read full review...

Good value for the price.

I lost my digital during our recent move. I didn't want to buy a new one yet until I had time to unpack. I had heard the Canon PowerShot was a good camera. I found an inexpensive used one and it served my purpose until I found my camera. Pictures are clear and has a zoom feature. I will keep it as a back-up. Good value.Read full review...

You will like the camera!

Great camera. I used a canon s110 years ago and upgraded to higher megapixel cameras over the years, I began to miss the canon. I purchased the s100 (which is almost the same thing) It's a great camera just as the s110 was. Takes great pictures for only 2.1 MP. Nice metal body, great quality!!!Read full review...
