Canon PowerShot SX520 HS 16.0 MP

Canon Camera's, both Point and Shoot and SLR's are just great Camera's..The Canon SX520
handles just beautifully, it is easy to use, from Auto Mode to Manual Mode. If I were to make
any change, it would be to give it a Electronic Viewfinder(EVF) but of course, that would add
to the cost of the Camera....Anyway, I love the camera, it has good color and sharp pictures.
Considering that the Digital Zoom of any camera has some camera shake (some MUCH
more than others) The Canon SX520 has a little,, but not too bad...Makes me want to shoot
a bit more into the digital zoom. This is not my first or only Canon, I have 2 PLUS 2 SLR's
that are Canon. (use them all) But the SX520 is my daily "go to" camera.

Canon PowerShot SX520 HS 16.0MP Digital Camera. Great!

It came just as pictured with no lens cap and no strap. It would have been nice to have had a lens cap. All else was good

Great camera

This camera takes great pictures and has an incredible zoom. It fits in your hand well and isn't too heavy. I took it on a road trip all over the US and it was perfect. Some of the features are a little hard to learn how to use, but once you figure it out it's great.Read full review...

Decent Night Photos

I bought this camera used and I think it was a very good value for what I paid for it.
The only two negatives I can see anybody mentioning is first off, it doesn't have a viewfinder.
The other would be that it takes some experimenting with settings.
I don't use a viewfinder so that to me is not a problem. And I do like the ability to change settings in manual mode and experiment, so this camera fills my needs. There is also an automatic setting for the photographer that wants to point-and-shoot.
The 16MPs seems to be the norm for people like me. Image quality is very good. I'm not a professional so I don't expect that level of image quality.
This model has 42x zoom. I like the night photos of the moon I can get with this camera.
I don't find it to be too bulky and battery life is pretty good too. I also had no trouble buying Canon genuine batteries for backups at a reasonable price.

My best camera so far

Zoom and stabilization works great. focus is fast and accurate. works well in low light. Flash is alittle slow to charge.

Great Camera / price / and quick shipping.

I am use to using an older 6mp EOS DSLR, and my smart phone for video and quick pics.

This camera is lighter, smaller and has a great optical zoom with stabilization.I am now more apt to take it when my DLSR was too big to carry around all day. Plus, it is a full HD video recorder. Has many modes to work with about any situation, plus it has some good manual style modes. I personally like to control ISO, the equivalent Nikon did not let you set ISO.

One picky dislike is frame ratio. If you want to shoot some standard images you need to set the camera in 3:2, if you want to shoot video, you probably want to set it to 16:9. So when you are going back and forth from one mode to the other, you must reset the frame ratio. It should have separate settings, one for video, and one for still pics.

Overall, it is a great lightweight compact camera. Way better than your smart phone, not as good as a $1000 + DSLR.

One more thing:
When comparing cameras, don't focus only on megapixels and think a smart phone with 16mp is as good as a 16mp camera with a real lens.

Canon SX520 camera

The camera is easy to use, takes high quality photographs and video. It is fun to use, very light weight yet seems to take some abuse. So far I do not dislike anything about the camera. In fact I got a second one just like it for work. I feel that the cost is below what most cameras like it sell for. The camera is a good value for the money, if you need an easy to use camera.Read full review...

This camera is a bargain and a super upgrade from point and shoot camera.

I bought this camera for my 12 year old daughter's birthday and am extremely pleased with the picture quality and with the camera's features. It is smaller than expected which turns out to be a good thing. I also purchased two additional batteries and a super fast 32gig memory card and couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.Read full review...
