Fun for all ages

We have only had our Wii since the beginning of January and rented Mater-Nationals for a few days. We found that the my 4 year old picked up on the driving mechanics fairly quickly and I enjoyed playing it myself so we decided to pick up a used copy on ebay.

All of our saved info carried over from when we rented it so we were able to pick up right where we left off in the story mode. My 4 year old has the basics of driving down but none of the finesse needed to play the story mode, we just let him play the arcade mode where he can race different tracks and different vehicles.

I'm not sure on the replay value since we haven't had it that long but I think it is something my son can grow into and it is fun to pick up for a few mindless laps around Radiator Springs.

However I do have one gripe, the default driving configuration uses the Wiimote and nunchuck together but you can select just the Wiimote (used like a steering wheel). Everytime you load the game it forces you to plug the nunchuck in, once you select your profile you can remove the nunchuck but it just seems dumb that you have to have the nunchuck connected to go any further than the loading screen even if it is just to select a profile and then disconnect it. I may have to research a bit and see if there is a way to set the default configuration but I doubt it, I'm sure it is hard coded into the game itself.

Wii Games always worth it!!

My grandson has wanted this game since his 3rd birthday last year so I decided to get it for him this year for his 4th birthday. While he loves anything having to do with Disney's Cars he did find this game a little advanced for him, however since I have 9 grandchildren living very close to me I must tell you it did not go to waste. As soon as he put it down they were lining up to play and they have given it a high rating and loved playing the game. When they start to tire of it and I can get on I will be playing it myself.

I have owned a Wii for 2 years now and have purchased two for my grandchildrens homes. I cant find anyone in my family that does not have their favorite game and when we all get together its good fun compitition that the whold family enjoys.

good, but not great

Pros: Good game for the price. Sufficient maps and tracks to keep a young 5-year old's mind interested. Graphics are decent enough. Easy enough to figure out after 1 run.

Cons: Requires a nunchuck to play.

Overall: Decent enough game, ESPECIALLY for the price. However, the fact that it requires a nunchuck to play is a deterrent. Most other racing games are more interactive and allow you to use the controller as a steering wheel. This game does not operate on that level and is more like a generic racing game. Kids love it though, as it's easy enough to use, easy enough to figure out, and it's Cars. ;) Worth the purchase - definitely.

cars maternational

This is a great sequel to the first cars game. The whole family can enjoy there are lots of new races you can do. You can find new paint jobs and new rims. You can even make lightning into a monster truck. My son loves this game. The only thing I did see is the graffics are not as good on the wii as on the 360 which is common for most of the games. It is easy to control with the wii remote. And the kids love making lightning jump with it. All and all a good game wouldn't pay the $50.00 they want in some stores but would get off of ebay again.Read full review...

Fun for everyone!

I got this for my 4 yr old nephew since he LOVES both the movie and cars in general, especially crashing them. He can crash all he wants in this game and never "die" which is great entertainment (for both of us!) I thought this game would work with the Wii wheel accessory but haven't quite figured out how yet.Read full review...

It's a lil boring.

I bought this for my 4 year old. He likes it, but there really isn't much to do besides drive around. He has a broken arm so it's hard for him because you need two hands to play. One to hold the numchuck and the other to press the gas button. He does get bored with it after a little while, but I think once he gets the hang of it he may get a little better at it. It's a little hard too sometimes because it's hard to know where you are suppose to go. You think you should follow the road, but then you run into a wall because you should have gone on the dirt.Read full review...

Thoughts

I’m happy that you ask if I like this game. I definitely do. I had this game when I was 10 years old for the ps2 and would play it all the time. But I lost the game and never had a chance to play it again until I saw this copy of it for the wii.Read full review...
