Awesome stealthy watch!
This watch looks great! I thought the negative display would be difficult to read and it is not, ..but maybe a bit. The dark appearance on the wrist looks stealthy and I'm in love with the look. I changed the strap to a black nato and it looks ten times better. All function are great except for one thing, the volume is very low on the alarm and it is so low it will not wake me up, or even alert me when I'm awake unless in dead silence. At the end of the day the features meet 90% of my needs and that is very good for any product.Read full review...

Casio G-Shock Tough Solar
I was in two minds about ordering the negative display, having read several reviews saying the desplay was hard to read but decided to take a chance because it's something different. I'll discuss this below. When the watch arrived I was disappointed to discover that mine came with the resin band, despite the GW-M5610BC-1JF models on Amazon and online showing a metallic bracelet band. I thought that's what I had ordered but I guess I didnt read the fine print when I clicked "order" but that's my mistake. The resin band is comfortable and easy to adjust, however I was very disappointed to discover it wasnt the metalic band when it arrived. Part of the attraction of this model was the metalic band but i'll get used to it. The watch itself is nicely sized for a small-medium wrist and not overly chunky like other G-shock models. Functions include the typical digital watch operations: time, stopwatch, timer count-down, world time and 5 different alarms (all the same tone unfortanately) and hourly alarm, backing LED light etc. The watch is part of the Tough Solar line, which I find attractive. The small power indicator bar was on "high" on the first day, but dropped down to medium overnight. I assume the watch has been sealed in a cardboard box in transit from Japan to Australia without exposure to sunlight for 3-4 weeks and on the first day I used the auto backlight 20-30 times so this isnt bad. The first 10 mins of sunlight the watch manage to get despite the rainy weather and the power indicator jumped back to "high" so I'm happy. As far as manually setting and adjusting the watch, I didnt bother opening the manual as anyone familiar with digital watches will find this quite simple. I managed to set the time and auto LED backlight, alarm etc without any trouble. Now onto my main criticism of the watch: As far as the digital display, on opening the box I was unimpressed with how dim the negative display is. Compared to my other casio watches it was significantly darker and very hard to read inside during the day. Having spent a couple of days wearing it I'm used to the display and have less trouble reading it, but i should mention to anyone thinking of buying it-it's not as easy to tell the time as a normal digital display. In direct sunlight or in a well lit room it's easier to see, however I find myself having to angle my wrist just right so the light catches the display so i can read it. If i'm watching tv or in bed with only a lamp or a dim light, i cant tell the time without using the LED backlight. I do like the watch, and my friends have all commented on how sweet it looks but in terms of functionality I probably wouldnt have bought the negative display version because its not always easy to see. I won't send it back, but overall the experience didnt quite match up to the expectations. I'll probably invest in a Protrek for the large LED display or an analogue G-Shock with a metallic band. Overall it's a nifty watch and I'll add it to my rotation of wrist watches but it's certainly not my favourite and was a bit of a let down. Thanks for reading!Read full review...
