Hail Hail Chuck Berry ... and Keith Richards!
For anyone who loves the Chuck Berry sound - and recognises him as the man who - with Johnnie Johnson - started it - this is a must!
Fair play to Keith Richards - a lifelong devotee of the music - and who like most people who had ever seen Chuck give slipshod unrehearsed 'concerts' with starry-eyed local bands - had always wanted to hear him play with a red-hot tight band behind - decided to use his influence to arrange just that!
It wasn't easy - Berry is a complex and mischievious man - but his patience - which must have rivalled that of Job - paid off in the end in a marvellous concert in St Louis - held in a theatre that Chuck Berry - a 'black' person - had not been allowed into as a child!
We move along!
Great performances from Etta James, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and so on ... with the brilliant Keith playing nursemaid throughout!
Don't you just love the way he talks?!!
Go for it!Read full review...
