Excellent story about the siege of Leningrad. Unbelievably it has a lot of humor in it while telling of the horrors of the siege. It is a quick read but one which will hold you to it until the end.

Wonderful read. Worth the time.

I purchased this book because it was recommended in the New York Times Book Review section.The book is well written with good character and plot development. The location of the story is unique too. The story takes place during WWII and the siege of Moscow. The descriptions of the cold of Russia and the hunger which ensued from the siege and the suffering of the characters were so vividly written, that I could almost feel all the sensations.

A woman I know suggested it. Raved about the book. I'm always suspect when someone recommends a book so highly. Turns out she was right. This book is amazing. Could not put it down.
