Simple modification makes this very usable.
Crye Precision's product is unusable without modification; the chinstrap is stiff and unacceptably abrasive. With use of an ACH (not LMCH) helmet chin-strap and four tri-glide slides (one per connecting strap), the cap becomes useful, and fits snugly. The AN/PVS-14 I mount does want to lean forward without the 1 lb. counterweight of an external battery. Crye's external battery pouch, which I purchased separately from the same seller, comes with a pass-through loop for mounting, though. This cap's rear strap does not remove from its buckle to allow the loop to be connected without modification. I had to cut the threads of the strap's end-stop to make it small enough to fit through the buckle. With these two modifications complete, the NightCap is far more comfortable and usable than the legacy skull-crusher NOD harness/mounted over bare skin.Read full review...
