A puzzling name, the One Touch, but I like this model. Has worked well for over a year

Con for this model is that it doesn't automatical turn off when the cycle is finished.
Pros: I've had other "One-Touch" models that did turn off automatically but prefer this as when the battery stops working you can replace it with the tin still attached. The amount of time I spent ripping into tins with various cutting tools and pliers, spilling juices/sauces/oils, etc. when I had my previous version led me to buy this model. I'm happy with this one but the "One Touch" name continues to mean nothing: The previous model I had would absolutely never start without several "touches" of the button, driving me nuts, and this one has to be "touched" at least twice to turn on & off.Read full review...

Odd Update

We used the previous model to this Culinair can open for some while before it eventually stopped working.
Because of the good service experienced we naturally decided to replace the the opener with the same brand. Unfortunately , the new model is far inferior to the original and a great disappointment. The old style had a small locating tab which formed an interlock and also switched off automatically when the cut was finished.
This now requires a start and stop button press which often sends the badly locating machine in reverse!!
Checking product reviews it was very obvious that the most critical comments were from people that had used the original model.

This Culinare opener does what it says on the can !!

This Culinare electric tin opener was bought to replace my old JML model which had given up after years of good service. The Culinare is neater but only takes two AA batteries so it's a little slower at opening a can but it does a really neat and tidy job with virtually no sharp edges and the lid removed completely. A worthwhile kitchen tool that will soon be appreciated.Read full review...

A noisy device and needs good batteries to work properly

It took a while to get the hang of this can opener. Part of the problem was that I was not using good quality alkaline batteries. It is noisy in operation, but I like the way I can leave it and do something else in the kitchen whilst it opens a can. Takes some time to open cansRead full review...

poor performance

After many years of use the previous version of this can opener finally failed. I purchased this model thinking it would be an improved machine. Wrong. The machine is not easy to start on any tin and when it does set off it leaves an edge like an old threepeny piece with lots of sharp corners. It rarely manages to completely cut the lid off the can, usually I have to twist the lid round to release it from the body of the tin. The only improvement over the old version is that the battery compartment is accessible even when it is on the tin. All round a great disappointment.Read full review...

Dissappointing

I purchased this for my elderly mother who has limited strength in her hands, it was supposedly made for this purpose. It infact was the opposite she found it difficult to keep the opener on the tin and once on didn't want to follow the circumference of the can but just floated around doing very little, I would say this is very hit and miss if it grabs the can it works but more often than not it missed. I tried this myself with a little more satisfaction, but in my opinion you would be better of with a decent rotary can opener with a good mechanism for smooth motion.Read full review...

The on/off button needs a bit of sorting out but once you get used to it its fine and it works very well. You do need to hold it in place with one han

CuliNO!

I ordered this to replace one I had bought previously. The ON/OFF switch had never worked and a drive cog had fallen off.

The new one has exactly the same fault with the ON/OFF switch.

You have to hold the switch down to get it to work at all and this makes the can you are opening spin round which could be dagerous as it exposes the lid of the can, which is often very sharp.
