The DE9141 is hard to find but worth it.
For those of us committed to the older DeWalt tools that use the post style battery, this battery is a good choice. It is light weight and provides constant power until it runs out of charge. Run time is less than the common DC9091, but most of my jobs do not require long run times. The DE9141 is hard to find, but well worth the patience and the money. Great Battery, but won't work with the old 14.4 chargers.
Lithium Ion batteries are much better than the old Ni-Cad, and I was hoping that I could just plug this into the old 14.4 charger, but that was a mistake. You'll need to buy a new charger if you're going to buy this battery.
The battery will fit your old 14.4 drill, so it's great that you can upgrade your drill motor with a new L-Ion Battery, but by the time you buy the battery and a new charger you're pushing $75.00 and you can buy a lot of old Ni-Cad rechargeables for that. Read full review...

Lower Capacity but Work Well
Don't know if these are Knock-offs or actual Dewalt batteries since they shipped from Hong Kong, but they charge properly in the Dewalt yellow Li Ion charger. They are shorter and lower capacity than the original Dewalt 14.4v Li Ion battery that was discontinued (1.1Ahr vs 1.5Ahr) but work great in my older 14.4volt tools. Still out perform the NiCads that are the only replacements sold in the US.Read full review...

Lithium upgrade
If you have to keep your old 14.4 volt drill driver this is the way to go but the correct charger is difficult to find. You can buy a new 20 volt drill with battery and charger for a few dollars more if you shop wisely. They worked fine in my drill but don't match the base like the nicad pack, but lock in fine. Upgrade over traditional NiCad 14.4v battery. Had to purchase a charger that supported the lithium ion battery. Only 1.1Ah but with two batteries I can cycle them. Gave new life to my outdated tools.

Dewalt did make a DDE9141 battery in 2010
I made a query to Dewalt and found out that the european battery, the DE9141 was made for that market.
The lithium Ion battery DEWALT made for US markets for 14.4V tools was the DC9144; it came with a Li-Ion charger as the DC9144C package. (See pic's for battery comparisons) This battery had a much higher 4Ah charge.
There isn't much of any information on the DE9141, I disassembled one unit it and it has LiPOFe4 Sony batteries in it. However at 1.1Ah run item, that really doesn't get much time for doing any major work with a 14.4V tool. I was able to drill four holes in 1/4 thick aluminum stock, using 1/16 and then 1/4 drill bits when the battery was out of juice and had to be recharged.
The battery was stamped with a 2010 mfg date, was plesantly surprised they still charged and held up.
You maybe better off getting the knock off 14.4V Nicad units which have higher listed Ah times.
IF you have the ability, better off to rebuild your old dewalt shells with new quality japanese cells.
