Good, but not a guitar hero or rock band.

Graphics: 3/5 stars
Gameplay: 5/5 stars
Music: 5/5 stars
Overall: 4/5 stars

I am sure you have seen this in stores or on TV or have possibly read about it. This is released by ACTIVISION in 2009 in hopes to be a hit like guitar hero or rock band. It uses a turntable device to imitate a real DJ. I recommend this for anyone that is very coordinated and has video gaming experience. Anyone that has a hard time or beginner is going to have a difficult time fully appreciating this game. The music however is very entertaining. You can also unlock music and have add ons. The beats are very good. You will get tired of this game after 4-5 hours. Overall it is 4/5 stars.

patience plays(for cheap)

I have been dabbling in dj'in for a few years now. i use virtual dj with a bcd2000 mixer and some Gemini turntable with some time coded vinyls. go to virtualdj.com to learn more.

Any way being a dj is not easy it really takes practice. picking songs and having them sound decent is no peace of cake. because of college my equipment was collecting dirt. here is where dj hero comes in. I have always envied turntableism so when a game came out that not only picks mixes for you and has a turn table it was a no brainer for me. at first the price was a barrier so i waited a few mounths and through ebay magic i got one for around 25 bucks which was well in my budget

pros
1. if u love hiphop u will love this game.
2. if u love being a dj you will love this game.
3. the mixes are really good.
4. the hardware are of very high quality.

cons
1. not that many mixes.
2. limited downloadable content.
3. the price (new) may be a hindrance (but that's why we have ebay)

if you want to enjoy being a dj with out the time and money investment in the real thing this is the best way to go. some may go on and become dj's or this may quench your thirst and you will not have to buy expensive stuff just to gather dust.

DJ Hero, ten times better than Guitar Hero

I bought this game hoping it would be something like its brother Guitar Hero, and let me tell you it is much, much, MUCH better than Guitar Hero for countless reasons. One being it doesn't so much push how great "rock music" is and actually has songs everyone will enjoy. I dont know why but for some reason even after 6 or 7 versions of Guitar Hero there is still only 3 or 4 good songs on each one. Dj's mix all kinds of music so this really covers all spectrums of music making everyone happy with the selection. Also they've added new difficulty settings so theres no more being stuck in between difficulties. That also may come from the fact that you dont just press buttons and strum you scratch, press buttons, crossfade, tweak levels, and spin. For all these reason and more DJ Hero is not only worth the money but is 10 times better than its brother guitar hero.Read full review...

DJ Hero Game and Turntable Controller

I like this product as it is centered on a center genre of music: dance. With the "Guitar/DJ/Band Hero" series, it gives you the ability to play an instrument, simplistically, but interesting enough to keep your attention. And with DJ Hero, it caters to an audience possibly a little less noticed by mainstream, as it lets you learn how to DJ hit songs. While one song was a little questionable, the overwhelming majority are fine, and the graphics are very interesting, even giving a choice in DJ's, from made-up characters to actual DJ's like Daft Punk. The controller is very responsive and simple, with three buttons/switches for each hand to occupy, and allows for right- or left-handed DJing.Overall, this is a well-made game for the first installment, and sets the stage for DJ Hero 2 to take it fartherRead full review...

DJ Hero

Theres a lot of great mixes to play through and each one can be mastered in 5 different skill levels. Not all the mixes are great(there were a few i personally did not like)but the game is fun, you really feel like a DJ. The platter can be used for right or left handed play so its fun for all. I have yet to try the Online feature, I am trying to play through all the different levels before i have my ... handed to me :-)... NOTE though the description says Xbox 360, the system is actually PS3Read full review...

Definitely not like DJ'ing but super fun

Really fun game, challenging and a bit cooler than guitar hero 1-3. downsides are only one setlist can be used with guitar companion, and also not that much downloadable content considering how many extras Guitar Hero series has.Read full review...

The perfect party game for the "hip and with it"

This game can be enjoyed by all. It's eccletic mix of music from the past 3 generations add familiarity for all, plus it music selection spans a few genres. The game comes with a slight learning curb, but you should be up and going within 30 minutes. However, the real fun comes in group play. So get everyone together, turn-up the sound, and learn who's the DJ Hero.Read full review...

Great party game if your not into the rock stuff!!!

I don't advise you to go and dj your friends party after playing this game, but for a fun and challenging time, this is your game. Great mixes from real dj's, fun gameplay, and a great line-up of songs. This game is sure to keep you and your friends busy on a friday night with a few drinks in hand. Turn the surround sound up a bug your neighbors! There's a dj living next door!

Super fun game with degree of difficulty adding fun!

This is a great game! The mixes are surprisingly good and it's enjoyable to "feel" like your mixing it up! The harder levels make the game a real challenge while the easy level is great for young kids. A bit of an introduction to the skill of the true DJ masters. I'd highly recommend this game for it's originality and fun game play. Even non players enjoy the music!Read full review...
