Oh My Goodness

The humor with Sasha Baron Cohen is indeed unique. He plays three main characters which are: Ali G(a brittish unintelligent thug), Borat (a foreigner from Khazikstan), and Bruno (a flaming homosexual). Sasha places these characters in situations that become hysterical. For example, placing a gay bruno wearing nothing but a mesh halter top at a gun show is indeed an expectation for chaos. Or, placing Ali G with a member of the DEA to talk about drugs and the effects will make you laugh. Putting Borat a foreigner, with women of America on a dating service will guarantee you to crack a smile or even laugh uncontrollably. Although I would not recommend Ali G for children because of his jokes on Jews, sex, and women and he sometimes show brief nudity (very brief). Adults will love his jokes because of the immediate response of the people he is interviewing. One must realize that the people he interviews are unaware that it is an elaborate scheme to make others laugh. He pulls responses out of the whim which makes the show even more funny. He also makes no attempt to pick a side of politics he is fair across the board having fun of members of each side, left and right. So if you're in the mood for a hilarious show, I not only recommend buying season 1 but season 2 as well.Read full review...

The new form of poltical satire

Sasha Baron Cohen is indeed a gifted character actor, capable of improvising and thinking on his feet. His magic is to feign an interview with American culture from Newt Gingrich to a Southern Etiquette Teacher and pushes each interview as far as he can based on the forgiveness that is given in the name of political correctness on the part of the American Culture. To watch these interviews, knowing it's all a sham and knowing that this is one small British
Companies way of having us look at own culture is both educating and hysterical.

Cohen went on to make the cult masterpiece, "Borat" and then earned several nominations for acting as Adolpho Pirelli in Burton's "Sweeney Todd" singing one of the most difficult arias in modern day music.

Pick it up. I paid less than the cost of a rental and will enjoy it many times. The menu is a little tricky to figure out but onhce you do you will have discovered a multitude of other options well sorth seeing, particularly the ikntervview with Boutrous Boutrous Boutros Boutrous Gali.

Love or loathe him?

You either loveor loathe this guy, and as such reviews usually mean nothing. Ali G and his alter egos have a cult following that is set to go more mainstream with the upcoming release of Borat: The Movie.

If you've never seen an episode, do yourself a favour. One warning though, you may start dressing differently and telling complete strangers, "I like you." Or confusing Buzz Aldrun with Buzz Lightyear. Or referring to your girlfriend as your "Julie."

I warned you.

AWESOME EPISODES! GREAT COMMENTARY WITHIN.

VERY FUNNY CLIPS! I AM A HUGE FAN OF ALI G AND I HAVE WATCHED THIS SHOW RELIGIOUSLY. I FEEL SACHA BARON COHEN COULD HAVE PUT IN SOME OF THE FUNNIER EPISODES. YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF HEARING SACHA'S COMMENTARY THAT IS HILARIOUS AND REALLY GIVES INSIGHT INTO THE CHARACTER AND SACHA'S CREATIVITY. HE DOES NOT DO COMMENTARY ON ALL OF THE EPISODES, AND THAT WAS A LETDOWN.Read full review...

U gotta be loaded!

This series is moderately funny unless you are high as a kite...then, it is ridiculously hilarious!!! I recommend this DVD although it has limited replay value. Most of the jokes are quick laughs based on race, religion and da all mighty dolla.Read full review...

Hilarious skits by the same man that brought you BORAT! Many interviews with actual, well-known people. Mocking takes with behind the scenes clips and many other extras.

Da Ali G Show - The Complete First Season (2004, DVD)

Somewhat disappointed. Expected more of Da Ali's quick wit. His action shots are rather deja vu, sometimes boring or needless. In general worth watching but with lots of room for improvement. Delivery on time.Read full review...

Witty and Sarcastic

Sacha Baron Cohen is an excellent satirist who reveal the flaws in modern day society by pointing out those flaws in an irreverent and pointed manner in the faces of those who chose to embrace those flaws. "Keep it real and respect"Read full review...
