Awesome product for it's age and price

I love this Dell Latitude D400. I bought it for a backup laptop just in case something happens to my newer hp Compaq 6530b notebook. I primarily use the Dell latitude d400 for simple task such as word processing, going on the internet, and occasionally watching a dvd on an external dvd-rw drive. I got an external dvd-rw drive because this particular model didn't come with an internal cd drive. now keep in mind that this laptop came out in 2003 which was almost twelve years ago so don't expect it to be able to handle newer applications. The dell latitude d400 can only handle up to windows xp, it can not handle windows 7 or windows vista. It definitely couldn't handle windows 8. The laptop I got needed to a new wireless card which I just so happened to have in my spare parts box. It does significantly better than other models from its era and price. again comparing it to the other makes and models from the years 1999-2003. compared to todays standards it's terrible.Read full review...

Used to operate one at work. Very reliable and well-designed as most Dells are.
No wonder why Government and military are Dell's largest Clients. The Latitude D400 is a more diminutive laptop, not as tiny as a NetBook but much faster especially when running Microsoft programs. It weights less than most and is ultra-portable. I highly recommend it loaded with XP SP3, a very stable OS, it needs less RAM memory and HDD space than its newer counterparts...Read full review...

Apart from the battery that holds little charge (i guess i will have to replace it), the laptop functions just right. the graphics are clear, it is fast and delivers when needed.i needed a working laptop i could access the internet with and the Dell Latitude D400 has not disappointed me.Read full review...
